For me it started with taking longer to fire up. Usually it's on the button but it started taking longer and longer until the inevitable.
If I used easystart it would start and run fine. I did end up fitting a new HP fuel pump as well but the...
I don't think the shares will be worth much unfortunately, I am not going to be charging what they really cost, I have to take care of my fellow enthusiasts :) If any one has requests for other unavailable bits let me know, if I can do them I will
Whilst there's no such thing as zero risk. you can mitigate obvious risk. Another EAS failure that would leave me and any passengers stranded in a cold dark night, miles from home can be avoided by removing the source of risk. Of course, I'm not...
If you want simple, perhaps you should have purchased a Classic or a Series. The P38 is not as complex as the models that came after it but sure as hell it's not simple. If you think getting rid of the EAS will leave you with a reliable car...
Plus 1 to the battery , should see a min of 12.6 Vdc with the engine off and around 14.5Vdc with it running
Indeed when it’s locked the modules will go into a sleep state after 30 x mins , therefore reduce the battery draining
Unless there’s a...
thanks that does help ,electrics are like my nemesis, i have had the battery on charge at work today, for around nine hours
shows around 14.6 when running and 12.4 when not,i will see what its like at the weekend, and if it`s dropped
i will...
I used petrol to swill it out. Acetone is betterer. Plug the ends with rags and once you’ve let it soak I put one end of intercooler in a bucket and poured the petrol through again and again. Any leaks on the fins will show up after a soak and...
I don't understand why you have chosen to use the term belittle as I never intended anything of the sort .. I'm sure my post concluded with the phrase 'no offence guys' but perhaps you missed that?
When it comes to headlights I was referring to...
13.6 volts, is that with the engine running? If so it's too low, even with an early regulator your should see 13.8 volts. sounds like brushes but check the earth strap from engine to chassis. Most likely the alternator from your scrapper will...
I admire your devotion to the cause but, with nearly fifty years of engineering behind me, my motto has always been KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid. A few months ago, I read a car article about whether peak car had occurred at the end of the 1990s...
Used it today instead of the van, usual route out of town 0.7 miles 30 road then 60mph and through 40mph zone for a crossroads approx 3 miles in, normally its just above the 1/4 line by this point, then nope just out the blue zone, 8 miles later...
I use Acetone but make sure it's all out and thoroughly dry before refitting or the engine will rev it's nuts off. Acetone works better for cleaning and evaporates quicker.
Yes you are correct, my error, put it down to old age and the fact that the EAS is so reliable that it's been a long time since I have used the software. I have edited my post thanks.
Lead Calcium batteries generally charge at 14.8 volts in my experience and from 12.8 volts my 120AH 900CCA battery drops to 11.2volts whilst cranking the M51 diesel.
I forgot to add that a lead acid battery is also limited by a finite number of charge/discharge cycles, typically 3500 if depth of discharge is below 20% and higher depth of discharge shortens battery life. It's electrical capacity decreases with...
