Have you not contacted bell to see what they have to say like nodge i would expect more than 18 months out of a refurb gearbox.

i wont be using it for nearly a month now and I am wondering if it’s as simple as a worn linkage bush. I need to rule out anything simple first I guess

The Rear Sub-frame will be the big cost as it depends where it needs welding or if it’s too far gone it will need replacing, the other things I don’t think will cost much

Don't be so harsh on her. I'm sure she is lovely other than her dislike of the car, so don't get rid to quickly.

She will be Mad when I tell her because she already thinks its a death trap and I can see me having to get rid of it, so I have started looking for its replacement

Sounds like a decent on 6th has failed, possibly a broken spring. I'd expect a reconditioned box to last more than 18 months TBH.
