No engine number on Discovery 1 V8

And this is where the fun starts. It was a TDi and has a diesel rad, but a 3.9 and auto box (guessing it was a v8 auto?) was slotted in.

No engine number on Discovery 1 V8

3.9 EFi on a sepentine belt, yes. Photo of the front of the engine Discool? I'm trying to get to the underneath to see the existing pump, however there is a long 'thin' one (ie stretched parallel to the ground if you will) and a more compacted, squarish one for V8s I think?

    Which drive belt...?

And the belt goes like this? Clearly there is a bit of slack on the tensioner in my diagram!

No engine number on Discovery 1 V8

Reviving this old thread, but I have searched and obviously there are VIN databases. When a V8 is changed from one Rover to another, it is unlikely to be the same year (engine and chassis numbers), so is there a engine database? So I can check I’m getting the correct water pump (say) for my v8...

I realised I hadn’t added to this sub-forum, so hello from Kenya.

Morning everyone. Kenyan resident here, and acquired a Disco Mk1 for a thing called Rhino Charge, a charity event raising money to preserve water courses coming down the Mountain (Charity is called Rhino Ark). The car was #43 last year, however we’ll be competing under #61 this coming year...

Expert Needed to help Purchase 3 x Discovery 4 for Africa Adventure

Would be interesting to know! Africa is great, but spares are the real issue here. Toyota spares are readily available, especially for a 70 series landcruiser. Disco 1&2, RR and original defender too, however even rover guys here will admit, you need to know how to fix them!

    Lemon 2

Exactly as Anaconda says. Go to a decent (recommended by a friend or on here) local independent. You'll get a much more sensible number and list of things to do.

Driven: New Defender - On & Off Road. Is it a Pretender?

As soon as someone lends me one lightning! Until then, the Discovery will have to do.

Driven: New Defender - On & Off Road. Is it a Pretender?

Navara here fell apart (auto box lost 1st and 2nd), trim fell off, tail gate fell off, eventually it warped it’s head and block badly enough to be scrapped. Hilux is doing fine at the moment however much of this could be down to the Navara was driven by 6-8 different people, and only I drive...

    3.9 wiring

Slight revival, but I wondered about your thoughts on starting a 3.9 v8 EFi engine which has been transplanted into a TDi Discovery and then pulling fuses from the original fusebox to see if it stops? I don't need lights or electric windows etc, however much of the original wiring is still...

    OIL/Auto trans oil cooler

This thread might help? https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/freelander-1-oil-cooler.346068/ Sounds like it is within the rad, but a Freelander 1 won’t get upset by having a separate one.

It looks like my 3.9 EFi could be from a Ranger Rover? Pin double pin…
