He's not been back since but it sounds like as above, something wasn't put back after the clutch was replaced l fitted new glow plugs to my TD5 and after that it ran fine but wouldn't go much above 40mph. lt seemed like the turbo wasn't...

Well, l wouldn't call my new Defender a "bunch of sh*t" it's actually an awesome vehicle both on and off road. Had no issues with it either. And it's nothing like a Discovery to drive. I agree that Land Rover threw away their heritage when they...

lightning posted the thread Airsoft machine gun in Other Stuff.
Airsoft machine gun for sale. ln new condition, boxed with accessories. My missus absolutely hates it so it's never really been used. l got a bollocking just for testing it in the garden today "it's absolutely the worst place to do it, the...

Apparently there's a smaller new Defender on the way, but not for a couple of years. The main issue l have with my new Defender is the size. It's fine for road use and as a Commercial l wouldn't want the rear load space (in my 90) to be any...

Was it after October 2010 when they all became Commercial Vehicles? I thought it was 2011. lf it was 2010 it might include a few late 2.4's

Indeed. Although tbh for me personally I don't really overland (wouldn't mind a go at it though). I do green lane, but will probably stick to the older Ninety and Jimny for that, as Welsh lanes can be rather tight. And yes, the new platform is...

Sounds like someone managed to get it reclassified. lt used to be possible but the DVLA clamped down on it, as people were doing it to make their vehicles ULEZ and LEZ exempt. Understandably so, but the DVLA didn't want people doing it.

l don't think it will ever replace the old Defender However lt's certainly capable. The 900 mm wading depth is useful. The other issue is image. Turn up at an African village or border crossing in an old 130 and you'll more than likely be...

Yes the new Defender won't do any of that Apart from the Overlanding, l've seen some pretty impressive L663 Overlanders.

No they are obsolete. But you might find a good used unit on Ebay, just make sure the internal battery is still okay. Maybe better to just upgrade the alarm. As the factory one isn't that secure.

So l think the conclusion to this is a/The new Defender (on paper) is better in every way than the old Defender b/This does not mean that it's better than the old Defender For Greenlaning and such like there's only one choice and it isn't the...

JLR canned the old Defender for economic reasons, allied to the safety and emissions requirements of a key market (North America) making a cost effective manufacturing process unviable - the tooling was worn out, the technology was outdated, it...

Well no, as they don't sell them side by side. But I seriously doubt there is any terrain the new one can drive that a Puma Defender can't. But I'm pretty sure there are places you'd take a Puma Defender where you wouldn't take a new one. And...

You could be right. There's quite a few on the other forums using these new Defenders for serious Overlanding particularly in the USA and Australia. And the steel wheels are really the only choice. lt's a shame these wheels don't fit the old...

l think the new Defender looks best in base trim (no bling) with the steel wheels When l say "looks best" l mean "looks as good as it's going to" But few agree with me by the looks of it. Ebay is awash with new "take off" steel wheels with tyres...

I've not got my Roamerdrive fitted at the moment. It's in the shed awaiting a moment when I can dismantle it and see what's wrong. Throughout the time I was using it, it tended to get the transfer box very hot - so much so that I made an oil...

Ashcroft do a 1.3 transfer box, maybe this would be a good compromise? Otherwise why not fit a Roamerdrive overdrive and get the best of both worlds. l was quoted around £2200 to supply and fit a couple of years ago. But it's likely gone up a...

So it's a Defender Hard Top (no rear seats)? Or do you have rear seats. They may have been fitted later as it's easy to convert a hard top into a station wagon. How much road tax do you pay? lf it's £360 it's a van/commercial. lf you're paying...

They always seem to be enthusiastically bid but more often than not don't reach his reserve. Looking closely around the Defender it's in need of some love. I would estimate £1,000 to put right. Plus the crossmember has been painted and the bolts...

Update! I replaced the MAF and it seems to be working fine. Cheers 🍻
  • lightning
Great news Glad it sorted the problem. You'll probably find fuel economy is improved as well.
  • lightning
Try a new MAF unit, when this fails you get exactly these symptoms. When you start the engine the ECU looks for a signal from the MAF unit and if it doesn't get one it switches to default settings. While this is happening the vehicle won't...
