If there's oil in the glow plug holes, then it does point to the cam cover gasket failing. It's a rubber gasket, which will shrink and harden over a couple of decades.
Hello all
I would appreciate your ideas since I don’t have a monopoly on clever thinking… or money :(
My TD4 has 230,000 miles, I am getting 45mpg REGULARLY. This last year I had to replace all the prop shaft bearings and joints. This last...
My slave cylinder failed in November, and I bit the proverbial bullet and went for it - both cylinders, new clutch and DMF. All by LUK. £1700! Had some engine mounts done at the same time.
My reasoning was:
1. Scrap the FL and get pennies, then...
I agree that the term is massively over used. AI has been around for years in one form or another. Computers have been playing chess and other strategy games since the ZX80 came out and even earlier so that was a type of AI.
But the difference...
As per normal my son came round and split the parts on two minutes........ my excuse is that i am over 60!!
anyway all has now been fitted.
i have read many problems with bleeding the clutch afterwards
Can I say we simply used a syringe to fill...
Gates belts are the best to use, but you need to find out if a pulley is oscillating and causing the belt to come off, it could be the crank pulley water pump pulley or the free rolling one.

Last few days I've been playing with the VCU firmware trying to figure out if it was possible to have regen.
It should hopefully help improve the range a bit but even more important it should take some pressure off the brakes.
At the moment the...
The 6 side bolts into the chassis rails are all M10 X 1.5 in any length from 25 to 40mm.
The 2 bolts that go up into the rear X member are M12 X 1.25 and are about 75 to 80mm long. They are available for less than the price LR want for them.
Can you change the turbo on a freelander TD4 without removing the IRD? well the simple answer is yes... i have just removed the turbo on my hippo and i will share.
Jack up and support vehicle with axle stands
1. remove engine cover

Andy nowts shoddy if it works, what i have done below, also help when you have to put a new EGR hose on because they are really tight to get on when new.
Remove the air duct.

Mark your line of modification.

Can't really claim credit for it as it was mostly @Nodge68 but front half of the prop back on, along with offside wishbone and track rod end. Even managed a quick drive up the road! Just a drive shaft to do and we're back baby!
Possibly. I am surprised that the stat has much part to play when engine fully warmed, but looks like it does. Temp gauge does go up and down at the moment so a working stat works hard on a TD4.
Might be worth a read of this one. I did it 2 different ways on automatics as the hose layout is different.

Just another afterthought... when I introduced the inline mod' and had removed the standard thermostat, I was paranoid about air locks since I had removed ALL the coolant from below and backflushed with a hose to get as much debris out of the...
If you don`t remove it to check it for functioning, how do you know it isn`t stuck part open and impeding flow and creating an airlock without the bleed hole modification?
BTW, that wasn't my photo !! Found it somewhere in this forum.
Got two of these sitting in my office waiting to be fitted to wife's & son's TD4's. 1-1/4" flanges, so hopefully should fit. £20 each from China.
I would say it is unlikely but not impossible that you have an air lock? When I fitted my inline thermostat, I recall filling and running the engine for quite a while without the coolant tank cap in place and topping up a few times. Also, if...
