As long as the egr valve appears to be there then they can't fail it, recently had to re fit egr and pipe work to a td5 disco that had the full delete done and failed MOT because no engine cover the tester could see it was missing. At the moment tester's are not allowed to remove covers to inspect.

I ran my P38 for years with egr disabled (push a small piece of bar in the vac pipe to block it then put it back on ) mine past smoke test first time ever year, it ran better and cleaner.

Not read whole thread but if yours has electric connector on top all that does is control the damping nothing to do with air , need to take liner out and drop strut down slightly to get to air pipe connection .

Might be a good idea to fix the door lock, I know I would given the problems it can cause if it doesn't work.

And just to add don'tpost. the same problem several times in different threads cos people don't know which one to answer.

It's a motorized flap in the exhaust which sieze up, Milligan's auto on YouTube has done couple videos about them on other cars, he managed to free them off by removing the motor and lubing the flap if you think yours is broken think you got no choice but to replace it.

Been there done that, even had them running on it neat the crap that comes out the exhaust when you give them a blast after was amazing!
