Hello discodevon - original MTF94 already in. Gearbox doesn’t like fast gear change 1st to 2d if high rev or above 10-15 km/h. Also, I should mention that when cold impossible to shift 2d.

Hi miktdish. Thanks for the above. So why this behavior appears only on up shifting from 1st to 2d ? If clutch doesn’t disengage well we should have a problem on other gears (3, 4 & 5). Right ?

Hello Brown, Thank you very much for your quick reply. The reason for you pulling away in 2d is because of the difficult (not smooth) 1st to 2d up-shift on the R380 if you rev it high while changing or shift after 15 km/h. Right ?

Gears are like this since 6 years. This is a second car that I don’t drive too much, it’s not my daily car. All other gears are smooth. Cheers

Discovery may have less resistance as the R380 gearbox is coupled to transfer box lt230 with1.2 ratio (this ratio is more for highway cruise with less noise than the defender), where the Defender lt230 is 1.41 ratio. This may influence the gear changes on low gears, or give more resistance with...

Thanks for your speedy reply Anaconda. If you don’t change straight away to 2d, and rev high and keep it in1st, does it let you go smoothly into 2d gear, or you have to wait ?

Thank you miktdish for the fast reply. MTF94 is fresh. This is happening only while up shifting fast at high rev. Needs a pause of less than a second on neutral, to let rev drop a while, and then engage the next gear (2d or 3d) gently like feeding it, without forcing. No issue on downshifting...
