With a delivery of parts attention has been turned to the front and rear brake calipers.
Both sets were relatively recent replacements but no idea when they were replaced or how long they have stood so it was strip down and clean up.
The...
He knows that, he used his phone for a speed comparison.
It's 3rd gear for 30mph most of the time but not on full revs, you can accelerate out of 3rd into 4th when the speed limit changes.
30mph has always really been an in-between speed gear...
Update as promised.
My son took it out yesterday evening and drove a few roads which we have driven a thousand times. He knows what speed it would normally do and what gear it would be in. It's a mix of country, town and fast A roads with a...
I have known both headlights to go together.
Can be the sudden surge that one going can cause in the other or simply the old bathtub curve. It fooled me when it happened on our BX. I too didn't think it could be the bulbs so the wife took it to a...
Wheels are good (ideal in my opinion) the transfer box is the wrong ratio for a Defender (again IMO).
Get a 1.4:1 ratio LT230, it bolts straight on and the car will spring back to life and look good too.
Small wheels kindof gets the ratio's...
Blimey yeah!
I’ve been away and completely forget to keep ignoring!
I think @MGT should come along to the meet-up and explain exactly what we’ve all been ignoring!
Doesn't carry any weight in it really, the engine is stock. It's used mostly for easy laning and the odd road trip to Wales now and again.
It might just be me comparing it to my TD5, will report back when he has driven it a bit.
Assuming it's petrol.
Could be evaporation of the fuel in the fuel lines.
Could be the fuel pick up pipe in the tank part blocked.
Or could be the coil breaking down.
Looks like some money has been spent resurfacing some areas of the track. Also some posts/fences erected along with some wooden barriers and strategical placed rocks to try and keep people on track. Of course certain idiots will soon be ignoring...
Changed the clutch master cylinder which had been seeping for a while. When I last changed it in the 2000's I welded a square plate to the bottom master retaining bolt so it could not turn. Whole lot less bother getting it out this time.🐱 smile...
Pressure wise on a TDI is done by the high pressure pump on the engine.
On the early v8 110 (SU carbs) they ran a facet pump by the trailing arm body mount. Max pressure 6psi but tank outlets were on the side of metal tanks
Just a thought..
Does a TDI have the correct plug? They use the same tank etc and also low pressure.
Will have a return as well.
If it does not have the internal pump you could just put a small electric pump on it,in line .
Standard cb uses 4watts of power,I have a box that puts out 200watts(used to do a lot of cb use)
The thunder pole whip is long so up the rear of the motor is the safest place.
Are you just using the cb to communicate on lanes?
Change the transfer box to a 1.4. These are common and would help the pull away.
You may loose 1st or not use it much
Simple remove, replace to see if it helps
245s, mind you the 2a came with D1 steel wheels which were 205 I think. Maybe the alloys came with 245s?
They are nearly new BFG MTS, they wouldn't be cheap.
I can see I will end up with them on my TD5 😕
Depending on the range you require..
I have a small antenna on the drivers wing by the wind screen. Only put it there as most of the branches are in the passenger side.
Have seen some on the front bumper
Mounted to the mirror arms
Rear mount...
Ooo some cheap tyres may be appearing soon…
Are they smaller than a 7.50? (I Run this size)
I run a 1.22 transfer box & no hassle. Just can’t tow heavy trailers unless in low box to start.
Think the disco box is diffent geared & used to run...
Thanks folks, so I'll get a flanging tool, some copper-nickel tubing and all necessary fittings. A man needs something to do during the next winter! By the current rate, I'll do the cylinder heads myself next year!
😳
