What carb has it got?
Oil appearing there can only come from the rocker gasket or possibly a cracked head, it has been rebuilt by the looks it has ARP headstuds so I guess they would of done a 1/2 decent job throwing it together,
Hi Litch,
Do you remeber the 300tdi auto you test drove? I have a 1995 which couldn't be slower, I just wonder if it's the same car. I need to find out why it's sooo bad. I am not sure if it's the engine or gearbox that's killing it. It can...
Smaller but necessary jobs, fitting into the policy of "as it comes off its sorted" and some new brackets being made:
Intercooler bracket (above) with a fit check (below).
The rear body panels threw a small curve ball. Turns out there was a...
So a Tdi is likely to return 24-28mpg real world. They can do better, but you'd really need to try. A V8 is going to use more fuel, more like 15-18mpg and up to maybe 20mpg on a run.
Don't know how many weekend miles you'll do, but making a few...
I like your stud ...
40mm sounds about right, i'm not near mine to measure at the moment.
What colour drive is a question and a half.
I fitted a blue one, tried a red one and then bought a silly expensive yellow one ... only one I haven't tried...
They rot in the same places as a disco.
Hard to find a nice RRC that has not been butchered.
Saw 1 the other week pushed out of a bush make £5k no engine or box(was a 2door but still rotten)
Today I did the massive long job of cracking off the big nut on one of my rear trailing arms... I thought I'd see how tight it was as the front bush is well past its best and needs replaced. It turns out the answer is not that tight...
We live in EX16, so I'd like to think we could come by. Assuming the FL2 doesnt go into limp mode too many times on the way there!
If I tow it there with the 110, will the 110 get firebombed when I arrive? : )
I had a session on the handbrake this morning. It's been getting less effective lately and as I suspected, oil has been getting inside from the transfer box. I'd got a new kit of shoes and springs so I put those on, and a new cable. I got a new...
Changed the radius arm bushes on the drivers side to match the passenger side I did the other week.
Had to cut one of the bolts off as there was not chance it was coming out.
Went back together no problem which is good.
Britpart yellow polybushes...
They have a long power cable length normally ,my relays are on the upright by the radiator for easy acsess. Main power lead is fed off the starter solinoid, saved me going back to the battery.
Switching is done off the old headlight circuit on to...
Thanks, not much time for it at the moment but it’s always there when I have got time! I’m missing my blue one a bit so will be glad when this is done but we are a way off yet!
Mate! Just caught up on this, spectacular thread, and work!
I'm in the middle of doing up a house that we're living in, and keeping my 90 on the road and family life etc etc is taking up alot of time right now, so I'm in awe of your motivation...
Just an intermediate update. The infrared thermometer arrived this afternoon. Cylinder head 79 degrees at the back 78 degrees at the front, top of rad 68 degrees. Fitted new Britpart temp sender - this sent the dashboard temp gauge just below the...
