Newbie here..
Read some good helpful posts whilst looking for my new toy and since having it..not really into the ‘club’ thing (friend of mine is in the V dub club 🤐, kinda put me off) but the defender lot are a good friendly bunch..always a...
I fitted a paired Durite sender and gauge a couple of years back. The gauge displays the actual temperature reading, but for whatever reason it’s now reading 15C ish off. I can’t be ar•sed trying to trace the issue, so I’m going to fit a...
Bit more tidying up. This was rusty and flaking everywhere. I meant to only clean up where my fuse box earths but ended up taking the lot back to metal.
Epoxy primered then only had half a can of black left so used some caliper paint
I'm not a phenomenal welder but my buddies who are gonna help out certainly are, so I think that's covered. I come from a long line of tool addicts so there probably isn't anything I don't have access to. The condition isn't too too bad from what...
I’ll see if I can borrow a decent one. The hose and rad are definitely hotter than they should be!
Bloody thing, there’s literally not a single week where something isn’t wrong (and this is after 15 years of ownership).
I have only ever seen my 200 get got twice, once off roading it in the winter for hours and the thing nearly heat seized! and two when the new stat failed to open, but car still got me the 10 miles home driven gingerly.
No viscous on mine, leccy...
Flush it an see if it still does it
Check rad not blocked or air in coolant
Borrow laser thermo and measure temp to rule out injun being too hot
Take stat out and test it or just replace they’re cheap ( stick in a pan of water and boil it see...
My 200 disco engined LR used to go up to the red on a hot day. No viscous. Have an electric pull fan that I switch on to drop temps. Rare it goes on while normal driving. Only if you tow or off road for hours where the air flow is not great. .
I reckon so! Funnily enough I ran the Webasto today. If it's cold enough you can run it while driving to help keep the cabin warm. I think (fingers crossed) that our sub-zero temps are on the way out now. Other than Wednesday all the daytime...
Webasto do block heaters for to get the water warm/hot.not found anything that would do for oil though. Think if you warmed the water it would flow through rad & does TD5 has the oil cooler fitted into the rad?
Also fit a night heater into the...
We do that on the ice roads, but on a big rig you can idle it up. Not so with a Td5 (although an object of the correct weight on the go pedal would work. I've also seen home made adjustable 'cruise controls' made with G clamps ;)
