Suspect this may be my issue then. All other turbo hoses fine apart from this, the boost control pipe from injection pump to turbo has at least 1 pinhole worn through. Going to get a new one today and see if that sorts it
Just out of curiosity, because one of our daily driver might need replacement in a year or two, what are the main weaknesses of the L322? Because those TD6 with around 200,000 km go for around 7-8 k in Germany. Would be a nice car to commute 300...
+1 on the turbo hoses, can be a leak, it disconnected or sinply desintegrated. As she did have full power before loosing it again, maybe a leak or a loose hose. Had that on one of our other cars, also a turbo diesel engine.
Just got myself this 2003 L322 with 123k on the clock for £850.
MOT ran out at the beginning of the month but does still run under its own power. Trade seller said that the previous owner said that the gearbox can slip but I’m praying it just...
For that price, I would have bought it without asking for permission! The new harnesses for my RRC cost more.
All the luck in the world is hereby wished! And congrats on the purchase!
Just for the record, I think I figured out what the interior lighting contact is used for, it is (cpupd be) the constant plus. In case of 13 pin sockets, 7 pin sockets don't have one. Either way, I might just use it as a constant plus, saves me...
I know that grill, looks goofy if you ask me. And those additional headlights obstruct air flow to the radiator.
Another issue just came up, the manual window regulators are obsolete... Which means I somehow have to make the electric windows...
Those modern 7 pin sockets have nothing I would connect to the interior lights... Those have indicator lights, brake lights, fog lights, tail lights and a negative... Weird, really weird
She is registered as a commercial towing vehicle in the papers with a towing limit, pneumatic break system being installed, of 6.5 tons... Well, the suspension is certainly good!
A bunch of things so far:
Two wire colors differ between the...
Well, it can if someone made all the necessary mods, the pneumatic break and compressor have been removed by now, and got it registered as such. Lucky me one of the previous owners did!
The trailer indicator light is behind the printed circuit...
Behind the dash, all the wires should have been original, I didn't check when I dismantled which wire went were, but especially behind the speedo assembly there are not that many options.
We'll see when I'm done, jist need to put already two...
Good point about the Trailer indicator light, I do get an indicator light in the original dashboard between the fuel gauge and speedo... I'll ask! Sounds like a minor thing to add so.
So, I learned something:
1) I need a 13 pin socket, those are mandatory by now for new trailers
2) if there is no dedicated kit for a certain car to connect the socket, apparently the connection goes directly to the tail lights
3) the...
So far, they never tested the function of the socket, not even lighting. As I replace the complete wiring of the car at the moment, I thought of doing the socket as well. After all, the tow bar is the perfect recovery point!
Naively, I thought...
That's what I found, so my first idea was to simply plug the lights into the rear harness as required, put two earth to the chassis and call it a day.
I have no idea if that is the proper way to do it so, because I assume the trailer relay is...
Germany, and since she rated to tow 6.5 metric tons I thibk I need a 13 pin, at least properly installed. Already asked a while ago, and the pneumatic trailer break system required for the 6.5 ton trailers is not needed to maintain the towing...
So, with the old harnesses as good as gone all the previously installed wiring went out as well. That includes the 13 pin trailer socket.
The car has what looks like a genuine indicator relay to be used for towing and the rear harness has a...
So, if I want to do it right, and that's what I am doing at the moment, I use the proper bullet type connectors. Autospark had those in stock, hence I ordered a ton. Turns out I need a proper crimping tool, well, the rev meter will have to wait...
I just found out what one of the wires on the coil is / was for: that's where the added rev counter took his input from. Good news, as it is an electronic one already calibrated for 8 cylinders, all I have to do is to connect it to the coil and...
Old gal been stud for over a week whilst away on holiday. Dropped a little bit but thats just self levelling as is normal where parked. Fired up first go and straight up to normal height so tret her to a run to Sheffield to my mothers so as to...
Rear harness almost in, engine harness connector labelled and routing figured out, dashboard removed, all after market wiring ripped out. Seems I have to pull out the heater unit as well, as the main harness passes behind it. There goes my TÜV...
Sooo, I skipped training today and attacked those harnesses!
Good new first: all colors on the Autospark one, so far, are the same as those in the repair manual (only exception in one in the engine bay). That is quite good! The rear loom is...
I used my 38' to stomp up to a village to give a cheeky girl my number who then gave me hers without hesitation 🤩
That was scary🤣
Then it'll go shopping with me on the Saturday ritual 😵
You would think, wouldnt you. But JLR are still using it all these years later. I guess they have worked out that it will probably get out of the warranty period, then its not thier problem 🤔.
We added a bit to our budget when we brought our...
