Not got a battery charger, but will get the AA to jump start me and then take the car for a drive.

Chris and Mark - thanks very much.
I did read my owners handbook, but it didn't make a specific mention of how to get into the vehicle if the battery was flat.
I'll call out the AA to jump start me and do the "grand opening" in their presence :)

mark1971 - ah yes, I have one of those on a card in the owners handbook  Will that help me, then?
Chrisfrain2007 - I would do that if I knew how to! :)

Thanks Chris.
Excuse my stupidity, but won't any residual juice in the vehicle battery make the alarm go off?

In order to get to the jack, I have to be able to open the vehicle.
What is an EKA code and where will I find it?
I think I'll have to call out the AA.

I have a 1996 P38 2.5 DSE.
I've not driven it for a few weeks and I now think the battery is flat. I can't open the vehicle with the key fob (that had new batteries a couple of months ago and the red light illuminates every time a button is pressed, so it's OK) and I'm scared to try and open...
