Hi all, Currently rebuilding a spare engine and all bearings etc are standard. Just need to double check the bores before I refit new rings. Reaching out to see if anyone local to me (Richmond, North Yorkshire) has a dial guage I could...

I had a similar problem. Mine was with 1st and 2nd which was the selector being worn. I also noticed when driving with the centre seat box cover removed that the gearbox moved to the left great deal. Found this to be a worn (snapped) gearbox...

Also to add, the tensioner seemed quite stiff to open and close until I stripped it down so could have been loose (chain). I’ve checked the parts book and there’s not a spacer after the tensioner sprocket as I thought something was missing 🤔

Hello Steve, Thanks for the reply. When I took off the timing cover the tensioner was slightly bent out but all bolts were secure. I’m thinking that it wasn’t bolted flat against the engine before PO bolted up the case. All seems well with...

Evening all, Brought a 2.25 Petrol and had it running as a spare. So thought I’d check all the tolerances and rebuild it. Everything is Standard including all the bearing shells which is great news. The only thing I’ve found is the timing...

Update - thanks all, put everything back to basics and tuned it by ear with a gunson for RPM. Plugs seem nice a brown so will check back after a longer run

Thanks Tony. I’ve just reset all the settings and idle. Now to go for a drive a pull a plug. The spark plugs are Champion N12YC. I’ll let you all know the outcome 👍🏻

You may think that your engine is running rich but white deposits are the result of running lean. If it were running rich they would have black deposits on the plugs. A nice light brown is what there should be on the electrodes. A Gunson...

Thanks Tottot that’s what I’m thinking. Defo looks l like it’s running lean. Going to turn the mixture up slightly to helpfully get the plugs a nice brown for now👍🏻

Hey folks, Landy series 3 2 3/4 petrol. Runs well and have no issues whatsoever with it driving etc. My question is the spark plugs. I do use lead replacement additive but to be honest after replacing the head gasket the valves looked really...

This is how mine is fitted. I have a couple of large, thick washers behind the bottom bolts.

The Powerlite, transformed starting in my series 3 2.25 petrol. Well worth it and British made.

Thank you. I’m going to put on a spare starter when I find it in the shed - it’s still an original Lucas so will give that a service and see how it gets on.

So...gotta love the series 3 esp when it throws an issue at you. My most recent is starting. When it does start it's great, loads of power etc. But recently after driving it it sometimes (once every two weeks) turns over really slowly like its...
