If you've read this far, the repair was a success and stopped all slipping. However, the vehicle developed a hard change into 3rd or 4th. Summary is that when I did the work I used a second-hand reverse clutch drum complete and didn't open it...

Doubt you will find anyone doing 4WD experiences in Freelander. They wouldn't have a very successful business. You'll need to find 1 that you can book to do the course in your motor. I haven't done 1 in a long while, but when I did, these guys...

Its what god invented super glue for. Oh, and the British weather.

I've removed the cracked aircon condenser. Had to remove the drier tube to access the lower fixing bolt. Refitted the cleaned out intercooler. Next job is to fit a pair of gas struts to the bonnet. Being a wheelchair user the stock bonnet is too...

To the best of my knowledge, you are correct, its plastic. If I really put my thinking cap on, there's plastic that can be recycled and plastic that can't - dunno why, maybe the stuff that can't is made from Russian oil. Not much help really...

It would presumably throw an implausible error code if both 1st and reverse were showing at the same time. Would manifest itself as soon as you engage reverse - unless its a sticky code and needs clearing.

What I have come to discover over the years, but more recently have observed demonstrated by more learned folk than I (mentioning no names...) that there is always a way and taking a pause, maybe for a bottle of Proper Job or Korev, pretty much...

Any oil in the coolant? if not I reckon you can discount the cooler. Had truck engine recently, and it was egr cooler causing header tank to pressurise. Had started to strip the engine to do pistons and liners when I took a peek inside the cold...

I believe garages have 'sniffers' that can tell if it is combustion gas working its way round to the expansion bottle.
  • GrumpyGel
If you have an issue with the oil cooler, this will mix oil into the coolant, not air.
  • GrumpyGel
If you are getting bubbles coming through the coolant system, I presume it can only be gas being pushed into it (eg from the cylinders) of from air being sucked in. If there is a loose clip or small split in a hose on the low pressure side of...

I'm not sure what the error, engaged and activated lights are - to know what your amber light means. If it's engaged, have you put a multimeter across the switch terminals to see if its still working OK?

That thread is totally irrelevant to your car. It relates to a '98 car with an L Series engine. The config changed in 2000 to the TD4 and I'm sure it will be very different.

What a faff getting the bumper off! Typical being an end of line car I found more bolts than either the Green, Blue Haynes or the LR workshop manual suggested. Tomorrow I will be removing the intercooler (Got side tracked by a leaking caliper...

if running to help is a paying concern... 3 weeks... so 15 days labour (at £150 per day) is £2,250 plus parts to be supplied but let's say another £2,500 if the "helper" has to find the parts... Let's round it off to £5k for mates rates...

My first thoughts are whether the icarsoft can talk to the SRS and if it does whether it successfully connected to your SRS ECU. Sounds silly when you have your own diagnostic device, but I'd see if there was a garage willing to give you the...

So after 11 years of owning my FL1 I finally got around to getting the rear window washer working. I made it more of a mission than what it needed to be! I thought the pump motor was stuffed - no. Took both pumps out and then the washer bottle...

I believe a popular insurer for modified vehicles used to be Adrian Flux... https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/ IIRC they used to be a sponsor on LZ. Can't help with the noise. Do you know all the donor parts were OK?
