On Saturday I changed the discs, pads and parking brake shoes as well as flushing the brake fluid. I also repainted the calipers while there ahead of the long awaited wheel refurb that it so desperately needs.
On Sunday morning I decided to...
No, not really, a very gentle slide down the camber on black ice into a roadside ditch fired the bloody thing.. Loud explosion and it filled the car with smoke. Not pleasant and totally useless as it inflated behind the seat
Right so quick update - drove back from a cycle to the unit to dump the bike etc and had a quick nose under the seat to check which connector. Moved it slightly and now the SRS light is gone with no message either - so thankfully not the clock...
Started taking the rad out of the scrapper then realised it was original and being an automatic had no fittings for the manual cooler. Reassembled, bled etc. and lost an hour.
Went for the red one and took the rad out. Swapped both it and the...
I got bored and fed up. Reset gearbox adaptions. All the clunks and hard shifts have gone. It's like a new car!
Obviously when i paid the garage to do it and asked "have you done it" the dude obviously lied because it was no better.
If you want...
Tbh it is no bad thing. Letting the torque spin out protects the driveline to an extent
The issue with the m57 is that it makes a lot of torque very low down
I have put a pneumatic centre diff lock in but I doubt I will ever use it unless I get...
Definitely not a roar on start up, actually come to think of it, it was roaring on startup….but now not…start vehicle and the fan is operating very quietly all the time..
I’ll do the newspaper test and get sniff test..
Exactly wot I’d got in mine ^^^.
First aid, compressor, random emergency tools like a 10mm +\-driver, water, ropes, d shackles, they were really handy like when my rad pipe burst - you just grab the one you need and all the bits are there to...
Got the 3d printer working again to make an adapter plate to fit a bee sting antenna so I have decent FM/DAB/GPS reception. The factory shark fin was cracked and no longer worked. God it leaves behind a big hole, bigger than aftermarket fixing nuts.
It was a Nissens one from 10, maybe 12 years ago.
Looking at the prices those ally Direnzo ones are near enough the same price as aftermarket. My concern is it is only 2 core and someone on here once said the Land Rover original ones were 4...
Head overtemp alarm went off on the way home but needle bang on 12 o'clock. Reversed into the drive to clouds of white steam - sh1t! Radiator cracked along the top and ****ing coolant. That's a Nissens one that has been on maybe 10 years.
P38, front side wing indicator lens was cracked and looked a bit shabby. Got a used unit that had green gunk inside it, as I was trying to wash it out the clear lens dropped off the unit. Removing and Replacing the whole unit , which is what is...
I did read somewhere about the idea of the coolant tank being split past way up, coolant drops to that level and no further. I don't think that's the case here though. When i checked the other day and took the cap off the whole area looked dry...
Actually no.
More like a hose/connection that lets water out at the higher pressure (when full to level) but wont leak at the lower pressure (when level is low).

Went take some pics of that stashed p38 I been thinking about. Building next to it has either been hit by a lorry or exploded, all covered in police tape, p38 is gone it’s just a space of no grass with two drag marks. Take it she didn’t survive 🥲...
Have a look down the side of the oil filter housing see if there's water in the V, I bought one those vacuum filling kits off eBay for another job and there's a pump in to pressurise the system that's how I found my leak turned out to be the stat...
