It's a clever design and doesn't leak. Mine hadn't been taken off before I bought the vehicle but I wanted that function. I think it is a benefit to remove it to clean the interface of algae etc that would trap water. Does your window move when you open the back door?

Hi, thanks for your help. As stated by Alteredtech, the pump runs for about 56 seconds before cutting out if the engine is not started. So it looks like it's fine for now. This is different to the HDi engine in the Suzuki I had before, which only ran the pump for maybe 10s. I am very grateful...

Hi, I have the same landrover. The rear window drops on mine if you take the roof off the back (or raise it enough to activate the switch). I can raise it again after the roof is back on with the key in the back door. There is no other way to fully activate the window.
