I know there are plenty of lifted FL2s about - I never said there wasn’t, did I?
And some will see no difference. And some will eat up other components quicker and end up replacing driveshafts and the like...
No, because I’ve never done it.
But a simple google search will tell you a lift kit, with no further modifications, will stress other parts.

Lack of power and smoke could be a loose/split boost pipe.
Other things to check besides the filter and LP pump are the O rings on the high pressure pump. These wear over time also. Cheap repair kits online.
