I found something here from 2016: "If it runs every 2-3 pedal pushes, it is tired.....if it runs on each press of the pedal, the accumulator is finished and needs to be replaced....you MUST use the RAVE method of de-pressurising the Accumulator...

hmmm, I've just gone for a drive and now ABS and TC are permanently lit up. So the old switch seems to be broken after all? So replace it, right? But the brake light works.

...a small addendum. The new one wasn't delivered - delay... So I pulled the pin out of the old one, pressed the brake pedal and put the old one back in - and lo and behold - everything is great again. Thanks to everyone for the great support...
