I had another look, it's totally my fault. They do with or without mesh. I thought that meant the actual mesh screen. What it actually means is recessed for mesh, or not recessed for mesh. Looks like if I cut of the tabs I can custom fit it 🤔🙄

Bugger. I think I see what I did wrong. I obviously forgot to choose the mesh version 🤯 So, can I just fit it flat?

The front wing is a nut and bolt job to change but the rear TUB [as it is called] arch side is a fair old job.

Have you looked to see how easy (it wont be) to replace those. Reach in give it a bang and pop out some of the dent if you can/want, but most of us live with the odd dent here & there. At the end of the day its the least of our worries  :D. J

Posting for future reference in case ever needed! Finally found the correct grub screw size: 10/32 x 1/4

Afternoon campers. Today I decided to refit the upper dash on my S3, just to make sure everything lines up before recovering with new vinyl. First job, fit the fly mesh to the bulkhead. Only it doesn't fit 🤯 This is how it looked in the old...

As a sort of update I emailed the Glass Chairman who via the local rep, has passed the video and as much info as possible to the relevant authorities. What comes of it, if anything, I do not know.

I spent a lot of time and got virtually nothing out of it. - Installed and new EGT gauge. . . . the gauge does not work. It has power and ground, but does nothing - Put my column cowling on and cleaned it all up. . . . now my headlights won't...

We have a car too yeah. Landy is going to be more for our adventures / camping trips, we want to make draws in the back and a dog bed above. Roof rack. Awning. Going to paint the doors to match the body. Get a spare wheel carrier put on. Just...

And I'm guessing the uninflated half is the bottom half? I'm that good that I can tell without even seeing it.

Keep the faith, half of the tyre is still inflated 🤪👍

We will 100% be doing this, great idea! And shouldn't have a problem opening it with the latch through the grill now. We were trying the wrong latch 🤦‍♀️as didn't know how the release cable worked until the video above, didn't realise that it...

I’ve a hardtop and don’t recognise the part But all the parts should be here either in the main or supplementary parts books but bedtime reading for you http://smithies.co.nz/land_rover/

Yes, but the bit I need is not on that page and I don't know the actual part number of the bit I need 🤯 It's this bit

Morning campers 😀 Looks like Noel's lower dashboard is pretty much rotted out (no surprise there) First I thought about fiberglass repair, as I am au fait with the materials. My next thought, as a non welder, I was thinking about getting some...

Thanks, and absolutely! We have gone from being worried to let's get stuck in and learn! We love it and it's gonna be worth every thing we do. This forum has been a huge help I was expecting to be laughed at with my first post 😆 but nothing but...

That I can identify with! My station wagon project (bought for my son when he was born) has very little chassis and bulkhead left, needs a full rebuild, the rear body rebuilding back to a station wagon, as I used it for my 110, and when I bought...

I'm sure it will all be fixable and you will have fun with your land rover. I wouldn't feel stupid. Your landy works and drives. Some of us (the real stupid ones 🙄) buy total rust buckets and then spend £££££ and still don't have them in a...

If you've got the go ahead from your financial director i'd get the nice new one. I spent (and am spending) countless hours on it. I do get it about wanting to repair the original though.

I'm hoping to use the old foam, it seems in fairly good condition 😁 Boss lady saw the dash last night and said, don't bother repairing, buy the new one, stop being tight, it's only £600! Still undecided, I'd quite like to have a go at a repair 🤪

Very interesting. Way beyond my talent level. As a non welder, I wonder if rivets would work? I didn't think the lower dashboard was too rusty, not compared to the chassis, bulkhead and door frames.🤣

This next bit to be tackled. I'm trying to remove as little as possible and finish each bit before moving on. Very long winded but should be less like to go horribly wrong. Time for the cardboard aided design again. I just overlapped here...
  • codfather79
I don't want to take chances with the dash going out of shape as I chop lumps out of it so I thought I would have a way of keeping it's original dimensions. There's a good chance things are going to move as we get going with this and there's...

I will eventually need to have control over my flaps so here goes. These grubby things cleaned up ok.
  • codfather79
More random bits getting done. I've started the dashboard but this is going to be a big problem. Doesn't look too bad here but don't be fooled. You can start to get the idea here. When the vinyl and foam covering comes off the full horror is...

Missed the last photo again. I've decided to repair it despite it being in such terrible condition. Nobody makes replacements and any second hand ones are likely to be as bad. You could be lucky and find a good one but how many rubbish ones...
