    Propshaft IRD

Sorry for late reply, must have de-activate email notifications. I moved the bearings sideways a couple of mm and could imagine but seems to have improved it slightly. U-joints was free and front diff mount is new, will have a second look underneath. Thanks for all help! Chris

    Propshaft IRD

Thanks! They are a bit annoying to fit so I don't think it is not worth removing the washers ATM. The U-joints are all new, will drive a few miles and then check everything again. /Chris

    Propshaft IRD

Hello, A stupid question, I have replaced VCU bearings and now notice a slight vibration I don't remember I had earlier. Should the arc shaped washers (see attachment) be placed in specific positions? I only marked the prop shaft and position related to IRD and diff... /Chris

Rear wheel bearings or diff - Solved

Hi, Finally everything is sorted, ended up getting a new bolt through the hub and with help of welder and brute force I managed to remove the old one. A final question, the suspension should be torqued when the car is standing on its wheels right? Thank you all for help and guidance! /Chris

Noise gone but prop shaft queries abound

Hi, Andy, I'm planning to try your idea, do you have any photos? Do you keep the metal washer on the side opposite the splines and on the axle end with splines you replace with an oil seal? Regards Chris

Rear wheel bearings or diff - Solved

Hi, I removed the VCU and propshaft and drove a bit, the noise (but less I think) is still there so a humble request for advice. I filled up the diff oil some months ago, will try to empty, inspect oil and refill. I attach a video of the backlash, is it acceptable or could this be the problem...

Hi, An update, I had to remove the cat and weld inside the flange, it is hard to spot so if you have a similar problem then inspect the area around the flange twice... /Chris

Rear wheel bearings or diff - Solved

Hi First, thank you and excuse me for slow response. Had to remove manifold and exhaust to weld a leaking exhaust and after that too many other projects. Its quite a job to remove the prop shaft so decided to replace the bearings (not entire assembly) and U-joints, If I understand correctly...

    Freelander 1 Down pipe FL1

Thank you all for advices. I managed to remove and weld in a new flex pipe, made a jig to get correct length. There's always a but though, there is now a minor leak between down pipe and manifold. I tightened to 60Nm used a new gasket and some permatex. Will order a new gasket, is it...

    Freelander 1 Down pipe FL1

This was not the reply I was hoping for but after having a closer look I agree that it will be difficult to do in-situ but also that it is at least room to remove the down pipe. Let's see how cooperative the bolts are though.. /Chris

    Freelander 1 Down pipe FL1

Hi, A quick question, I had problem with exhaust values and I think I found the reason :) (see photo) A down pipe is quite expensive over here and not easy to remove I guess. How would you do, , would you weld or replace with a new generic flexible pipe plus clamps. Thank you in advance /Chris
