So update, took landrover into garage today who bled brakes and tested them. Reasonable braking force but long pedal travel. He said adjuster on rear not working and needed adjusting on front as well. Discovered rear did not have pin in shoe for...
The garage did bleed the brakes and get some air out, annoyingly managed to do it the old fashioned way so don't know why I couldn't do it. Never seem to have much luck with brakes, it was the same on my classic mini
Hello everyone!
I just got my driving license yesterday. I'm 24 and applied for the license only to go off the beaten track (I work from home permanently, so no commuting involved). As a result my next car has to handle some light to medium...
Hi all,
After a gap of landy ownership of a few years I've just purchased a 1972 S3 88.
Its got a perkins prima diesel conversion in and I'm wondering if anyone here can fill in any gaps in its history which is a total blank at present.
Any...
I refurbed mine recently, just happened to have a tin of blue enamel boat paint in garage, used cup wheel on outside, few costs of primer and this paint went on beautiful, colour match close enough for me
Thanks for keeping us up to date, it's always nice to see. You've made a good start.
Don't buy cheap hoses, I had to replace all of mine after just a year. Get a new thermostat and gasket when you do the coolant.
I fitted an electronic...
Fitted the new Weber carb last weekend, along with new plugs, leads and an online fuel filter (still got to replace the points, but I'll do that when I properly service it in 2 weeks time - not being run for a couple of weeks, so no rush).
I'm...
I know you have painted the outside of the chassis but I would still cover the external with a chassis wax as well. I like dinitrol personally as it actually "dries" rather than remaining wet like waxoil.
I've reluctantly started to give Leylandi series 3, some protection today. Last weekend I used a wire brush on a drill and white spirit to remove old waxoyl then jetwashed.
I used Jenolite rust converter and 2 coats of Buzzweld chassis in one...
Thank you for adding to the conversation, it's great to know I'm not alone. One of the first things we did before trying to start it when we rolled it out of storage was to drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel.
In addition, "Uncle...
My series 3 was running badly so I replaced the Zenith Chinese copy with a new Weber kit. What I now believe is the rusty fuel kept blocking up the carb jets. I would advise anyone recommissioning a series to save themselves the frustration to...
Welcome to the forum.
I would suggest a Webber is the most affordable option.
Rebuilt carbs are pretty expensive last time I looked.
Don't be tempted by the Chinese Zenith, we had one and it was total rubbish. We then got a good 2nd hand Zenith...
The inline filter did very little when my tank was rotten, the jets were still getting clogged. If it does need a new tank it's easy to fit just a 4 bolts and 2 hose clips to undo.
yeah, I'm not sure where it all came from though because it has quite a good inline fuel filter fitted? previous owner might of put that on after he realised crud was getting into the carb though.
