Yeah back to 2 valves 1 hot water in 2 out there positively energised so always open and close as the temp control is turned down and fully closed on cold setting.
They fail often think iv done mine twice the rubber seals break down.
As your looking at the engine bay from the front of the car it's deep down on the right hand side bulk head. You lose a bit of coolant when you swop it out but it's not a drama
Heater control valve takes 20 mins to swop out if your having tea at the same time. The hoses are very bendy and you can pull them a fair way out for better access...
I don't have adaptive counting headlights either but I do have the headlight self leveling headlight module.
It's located passenger footwear, pull the kick panel off and it's up on the left just a little bit.
It will be the reason for the original pump failure and the new pump running constantly and the slow raising message.
Some weld yhe leak up but the tanks cheap enuff off the bay iv change both tanks on our d3 and sport
So I'm keeping my m62 engined L322 my mate and talented mechanic who did the engine rebuild is going yo look after it gor me for a while so I will have to slum around in this instead
Mine does not self level the headlights so to speak, it is however a check of the headlights height in relation to the cars height.....air suspension, self levelling blah blah .
It takes 5 mins to pull the unit and check it.

It's fitted all right I had the exact same issue had me going around in circles for a while. My module sufferd water damage from a tiny leak top of the windscreen .
They all have them fitted.
Looks like you have a canbus fault but what do I know.
Seriously tho you mite want to look at the headlight self check leveling module it's located passenger side behind the left kick panel. Suffers from water damage/damp or just failure.
Yes you got ripped off yesterday you can drive away to any place of repair so best complain to dvsa report the testing garage for profiteering I'm sure the local agency guy would love an opportunity to big him self up.
My own response last night was going to be a tad shorter but got a sense the OP may be offended.
It went something like: the 'best' is the one you like, can afford to buy and can afford to maintain ..
P.s I really fought this bit but...
