It would seem logical to me that you can't defeat deadlock by reaching in through an open window and hitting a switch. Edit: I just tried. If I lock with the fob then it deadlocks, and the interior switch now does absolutely nothing. if I lock...

Thanks, that is very helpful Is it possible that the switch only asks the 27VT to operate the door lock motors but not the deadlock motors, whereas the fob can ask the 27VT to operate the door lock motors and the deadlock motors? My doorlock...

Sounds like a toggle switch failure. You find the window toggle switch can fail too sometimes 🤨

As far as I know the door locks are all driven by the 27VT body control module. I don't think that any of the switches are connected to the door lock motors in any way. Basically the switches are all just "requests" to the 27VT and it's the 27VT...

I found this page informative about the various systems in the FL1 over the years https://www.remotekey.co.uk/help/land-rover-freelander-key-fob-and-immobiliser-problems/

Is that video after the smoke has cleared? Mine does the same thing, but much more grey smoke, and lumpy for a few minutes. I cleared out the inlet manifold last summer and it cleared it. It was good since, until it started warming up and now...

Thanks! No door card removal All levers open the doors manually Drivers door and all others lock with fob but not dash button, which I find strange Lots of motions heard, I think in all doors, but I think that is only the deadlock motors, I think...

Start with the driver door lock first motors. Sitting inside have you had the door card off recently, as the levers should open manually. Second beeb open all doors and tailgate. Inside the vehicle the console button opens all. Have listen to the...

Hi I now have two working fobs They both lock all doors and 'undeadlock' the doors (clunks heard) but dont pop the buttons up. The drivers door button used to pop up, but recently gave up the ghost. I presume this is motors in locks. But, the...

I got the fob back to Portugal and finally today got it programmed on someone's Hawkeye. Works perfectly! I just wish my locking motors all did too  Now I have a spare!

You are missing nothing ! It is a simple way of effecting EGR removal and cost nowt... If a blank or a hollowed out EGR is fitted it improves the air flow. Whether it is noticeable is difficult to answer

Me too For sure, when I cleaned my inlet manifold and EGR (latter wasnt too bad though) it made a heck of a difference I also thought the reason for getting clogged up could be the sump breather filter being blocked?

Possibly. Mine was not stuck open though. That's exactly what I did.

I thought that the problem with a clogged EGR was that it can get stuck open So the blanking mod just takes the valve part away So why not clean it out, ensure it's closed and disconnect the vacuum pipe so that it never opens (effectively...

One solution is to do the EGR and manifold clean out, and then simply isolate the vac supply to the EGR.

A freelander 1 is a metric spanner vehicle.

The nuts on the front of the propshaft to IRD bolts are best fit for 1/2 inch AF. Also the TD4 aux belt tensioner is 15/16 inch AF. 24mm is loose and hurts your knuckles when it slips off !! Can you get 6 sided ring spanners ??

Onto the tracking bit: Rave says toe out of -0.23 +- 0.23 degrees (0 to 0.46 degrees) Which by simple trig is 0 to 4.0 m/km Where do people run? Road mostly if not exclusively.

Everything is metric in my experience on my TD4 FL1 Facelift 2005 LHD. This week I discovered that draper tools and a mix of other spanners were too "loose" on the 10mm anti-roll bar bush retaining bracket screws. I finally tried a Wurth set of...

Amongst other things, a good set of 6-sided metric sockets and spanners is a must !

Maybe Landrover thought let's switch it up for LHD models and use imperial, they've not really been known for thinking intelligently 😂

Yup. Iknow the equivalents that are ok if not siezed but I'm not doing the job. I was just surprised that he found imperial sizes on the freelander, especially a LHD for Portugal
  • Bife
