Morning all!
Hopefully final update to this saga as the “issue” started to appear again last week.
I managed to start it by wiggling the brown conector in the fuse box (under steering wheel) while at intention pos 3/crank and replaced the whole lead (from back of ignition barrel to fuse...

SF - sorry chap, I completely missed this - didn’t get a notification from the forum so apologies.
I was just going to update to say that the fault turned out to be a faulty/dodgy RR hub sensor and the fault has been fixed by replacing the hub and sensor with a decent, OEM, unit.
In answer...

Evening all!
So I’ve recently replaced the LH rear brake pipe after it “popped” on the drive home the other week (completely rusted through) and also replaced the caliper and carrier too as they were in a bad way - all seems ok after bleeding modulator and system with Nanocom and a friends...
-
According to the mechanic the connector from the ignition itself - apparently it looked like it had been “played with” in the past (wasn’t me!).
I’ll be honest I didn’t dig into it any more than that as I was just happy to get it working and not get charged a lot for it, and he was swamped with...

So. Final update as the issue appears to have been resolved. After being in the garage for nearly 3 months it turned out to be a dirty ignition cable - which was cleaned and it’s been behaving itself for 2 weeks now!!
Sodding thing - straight through the mot too so looks like it’ll live on a bit...
-
thanks @sierrafery and I think I might have a crack at the engine harness as a last resort when/if it comes back from the garage. The fascia harness is a bit beyond me so that really will signal the end!
-
Nope. I ran out of ideas and took it to the garage. Starts fine when cold and every now and then but not consistently. Garage has no idea either!!
-
Update!
Car is still in the garage - they have no idea.
So looking like it’s going to have to go up for sale a a project as scrap value is £250 which just seems offensive!!
-
Well I’ve admitted defeat this time and taken it to the garage. Ran low on time and patience!
I’ve told the lad there that if he can fix it he can give me £2k for it and call it quits so we’ll see 😎

Sorry, I obviously misread your post or didn’t understand fully as I took the engine bay fuse box swap to override the other checks. Will re-read and try again although electrics are not my comfort zone!
Also, I know the lumpy running/lack of power is not the same thing as the invitation issue...
-
Thats voltage at the starter. Not the battery
It shouldn’t be the MAF as it’s less than a year old and oem. But will check, along with the running figures for MAP/IAFP
-
Tried Tilly2’s suggestion. Voltage on initial read is 12v and drops to just over 11.9x on crank. It started 3x today!
Drove it around and power wouldn’t come in properly - very lumpy. Almost like the MAF was malfunctioning
Also noticed what looked like oil slowing dripping down drivers side of...

Thanks @tilly2 - will give that a go as soon as I’m back at home and it’s stopped raining!
Haven’t had the time or a chance to do anything more since replacing the fuse box but I have managed to start it twice - both mornings when it was cold and had been dry overnight…..
Will report back once...
-
@Stanleysteamer - no doesn’t get damp inside. The only thing I have noticed is that when it’s cold it’s seemed to start more consistently. But that might just be me imagining things!

The starter motor is brand new. And oem. I fitted it about 3 weeks ago
