My D2 does the same thing. I had always assumed it was part of the gear programming to help get it up to temp as quickly as possible. Hence why it behaves normally once warm. ?

Try giving the idle bypass valve a good clean with brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Don't be shy at spraying it in there thy get really gunked up. I had a 3.9 range rover with similar symptoms to yours and that cured it. It could be a vac leak somewhere but try the easy stuff first. Good luck

Well for anyone that cares my theory was right, i borrowed a known good ECU and it fired up straight away. It looks like i've got a busted alternator now though but there you go. Can't have your cake and eat it.

Your absolutely right - everything is set for petrol. As i don't really live near and LPG stations and for the low milage i do its just not worth it. Priority for me is, run as well as possible on petrol and forget about the gas.
