Thanks, it is just that I have read that you need to pack the pump to prime it, otherwise it will not circulate the oil.

I am just fitting a new oil pump to a completed 2.25 petrol engine on my Series III. I need to prime the pump with either grease or Vaseline? The open hole in the attached picture is the inlet; is this where I need to pack it, or do I have to open the pump up and pack around the gears as well...
