    Terrafirma Detachable hitch

I bought something similar from these guys:- RSB Discovery Tank Guard With Removable Tow Hitch Fitted to the standard tow bar attachment points with no issues. I like the Terrafirma stuff but I agree, that price should include fitting.

    Broken driveshaft?

Sounds like your diff bushes are shot, that could cause both the vibration and banging you describe, had this on mine, replaced them for poly bushes. The VCU bearings are kind of floating in rubber mounts and can be moved so that sounds normal. When these bearings are worn you can hear and feel...

Inner wing and rear wing replacement

YRM metal solutions do just about every panel you could want and they deliver pretty quickly too. Used them when I replaced my Disco front inner arch and body mount

    TD4 starting issues

I had this problem intermittently, same thing, would crank for ages but no smoke or other signs. Also had really poor acceleration - hardly any power below 2000rpm. Scary when pulling out into traffic. Changed the MAF and fitted a "Ronbox" now all the problems have gone away and it pulls like...

    bearmach bushes

I used the same (equivalent) kit on my Discovery. They are good quality bushes and firmer than most other bushes so probably better suited to road use. One thing to consider though, they are single piece bushes, not 2-part split bushes, so will need to be pressed in. Some decent threaded bar...

    Discovery 2 diff guards

Hi, Personally I don't rate those in the link. OK they protect the diff pan somewhat but the QT and TerraFirma ones are skid-plates which helps to ride over rocks and branches etc. and are effective in reverse as well as forwards. The QT one on the rear of my D1 also projects forwards and...

    Rev counter flapping?

Mine did this until I fixed the connection on the back of the alternator. Its the single wire with a push-on connector, I think it's an orange wire if I remember correctly. Just squeezed the connector with pliers to make it a tighter fit, job done, been fine ever since.

    A frame mods ?

I have also seen a modified ball joint somewhere online to allow extra articulation. You might want to consider new fulcrum bracket bolts and for that matter the fulcrum bracket too: LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 1 A-FRAME JOINT + BRACKET + BOLTS - DA1129 | eBay The ball joint can be a bit of a...

    Wading kit into air box

Deffo going to do that as I love the smell of EP oil :decision: On a similar note; you may have noticed that it rained a bit the other week, and one morning on my way to work, as I pulled out of a side turning the truck hesitated then 'pooof' a big cloud of grey smoke and off it went as...

Extra switch locations. Ideas and pics please

I found that the "Mudpod" from Mudstuff is ideal for this... MUDSTUFF.CO.UK, MUD Dashboard Pod - 'MudPod', Land Rover Defender Solutions: West Yorkshire Although it is intended for the Defender it fits just right on top the Disco dash where the coin tray is. I don't have any pics of mine but...

    Wading kit into air box

I don't have any direct experience of this but I was also concerned about the vacuum created inside the airbox or the snorkel. I have heard of issues with this and even oil being sucked up the tubes. How deep do you intend wading? I have terminated my wading tube just inside the scuttle under...

    Cam Belt help please

Going to put my neck on the line and add my 2p worth here. You are both right, to a degree (pardon the pun) Jongould is right in as much as the ratio between the pully's will always remain constant regardless of the length of belt. However, Diesel Do is also right in that, if the belt is...

    help a dooofus

I used this deal at the last service of my Disco 300tdi: 280554552885 from JGS4x4 found it to be good value, everything you need even drain plug washers. Filters are all Bearmach. Will be doing the same this year too. Paul.

    300tdi disco , problems problems !

I had an intermittent rev counter on my 300TDi, traced it to a loose connector on the back of the alternator so I reckon you could kill 2 birds with 1 stone there.
