Bleeding clutch on a manual 1985 Classic 3.5 efi

Cheers for that Wil2813. Managed to work it out before reading your post. The way I did it was to use a 1.5 meter length of tubing. Connected one end to the bleed nipple on the slave and the other end hanging above the surface of the fluid in the master cylinder. Pumped clutch pedal several...

Bleeding clutch on a manual 1985 Classic 3.5 efi

Hi tomcat59alan, I've replaced both master and slave with new ones so unless either are faulty I think it's just a bleeding problem. Even with the old leaking master cylinder I had resistance on the bottom half of the clutch pedal. Now nothing. Think I'll get a chance this afternoon to try...

Bleeding clutch on a manual 1985 Classic 3.5 efi

Had a leak on clutch master cylinder. Replaced master and slave cylinder and as per manual I've attempted to bleed them but so far no joy. I've had the wife pump the clutch whilst I've connected a piece of tubing to the bleed nipple on the slave and the other end under the surface of glass of...

1988 3.5 v8 EFI manual clutch pedal problem

Update and more questions! Fitted the new master and slave cylinders. Think I seem to have bled the system via the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder. Also bled the master before connecting. Still have a light clutch pedal and it's not engaging the clutch! Want to check I've defo bled the...

totally spot on tomcat59alan! Removed the master cylinder and there is a slight leak visible when I removed the rubber dust cover! Now would you guys advise replacing the master cylinder or just ordering a service kit and replacing the seals? Aftermarket Master cylinder is about £21 whereas...

1988 3.5 v8 EFI manual clutch pedal problem

Cheers guys will give that a whirl. Is it possible for air to leak into the system without fluid leaking out? It's just that I don't seem to be losing any fluid at all when trying to bleed the system. I brimmed the reservoir and after 10 mins of pumping the pedal this hadn't changed!

1988 3.5 v8 EFI manual clutch pedal problem

Hi Jamesmartin, Thanks for that. I did check that he reservoir was full but none of the fluid from the master cylinder seems to be moving to the slave cylinder when I'm trying to bleed the system. There were no obvious signs of a leak anywhere around either cylinder. I've also inspected around...

1988 3.5 v8 EFI manual clutch pedal problem

Hi guys and thanks for your help. I've inspected the slave and master cylinder for leaks and can't see anything obvious. I decided to bleed the system anyway. I followed the manual for this however when I loosen the bleed valve I just seem to keep getting air and occasionally a tiny bit of...

1988 3.5 v8 EFI manual clutch pedal problem

Hi guys, hope someone can help or point me in the right direction. The clutch pedal on my manual classic has a lot of play and I can only feel resistance in the final half of the normal pedal position. The clutch will only engage with my foot pressed to the floor. I've got the rave file but...

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

Found the problem and starts fine now. I must have knocked a thin wire when I removed or refitted the alternator. The wire was the earth wire from the coil to the dizzy and it broke just after the plug connection it to the dizzy! I found the problem by checking the voltage at the coil with the...

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

No spark at the dizzy so now looking at faulty lead from coil to dizzy or coil faulty! Is there a separate fuse for the coil?

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

How do I check the coil with a multimeter? I've checked the connections and all looks fine. But want to double check with a meter before moving on.

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

Checked again and I think one of the cables must have been earthed as I'm now not getting the bat light! Pulled a plug and it's dry but I'm not getting a spark! Where do I look now?

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

Will try pulling plugs and see if I'm getting a spark. Also noticed that when the Alternator wasn't in the car I didn't get a battery light on the dash. Now that I've refitted and then removed again I'm now getting the battery light!!! I would think that without alternator I shouldn't get the...

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

It's just that yesterday, no alternator and starts, today refitted and won't start. Tightened up pas and alternator belt. Didn't touch another thing. Can anyone confirm that non of the wiring from the alternator could effect power to the fuel pump etc? Is it possible to flood an EFI?

    stainless exhaust?

Think the SS full exhaust = £300 ish whereas the MS are £100 ish! A lot less than I thought so I'd probably consider stainless when mine gives up. I have the same problem with the advanced search but thought that was to do with me being new.

RRC 1988 V8 EFI cranks but won't start after refitting alternator

I've just replaced the brushes in my alternator and refitted. Now it cranks but wont start!!! Battery is new and tests fine also tried jump leads but won't fire. I can't see how the alternator could even be related to not starting as the truck started without any problems even when the...
