Had a leak on clutch master cylinder. Replaced master and slave cylinder and as per manual I've attempted to bleed them but so far no joy.
I've had the wife pump the clutch whilst I've connected a piece of tubing to the bleed nipple on the slave and the other end under the surface of glass of hydraulic fluid with the nipple loose. Done this for 20 mins until bubbles appear to stop. Clutch pedal moves easily but hardly any resistance.
Q1. Should I be tightening the bleed nipple when releasing the pedal and opening for pressing?
I've read other threads that you can use some sort of pressure equipment but I don't have this.
Q2. how long approx should it take to bleed?
Q3. I have an pump type oil can, would it be worth releasing the connector on the master cylinder and reverse bleeding?
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Doesn't look as if you are getting much help Steve. Have you checked the slave cylinder in the same way you checked the master cylinder, it could have a leak as well

Hi tomcat59alan, I've replaced both master and slave with new ones so unless either are faulty I think it's just a bleeding problem.
Even with the old leaking master cylinder I had resistance on the bottom half of the clutch pedal. Now nothing.
Think I'll get a chance this afternoon to try bleeding again via as many different methods as I can. If I get it cracked I'll post here in case anyone else has this problem.
Would really help if anyone has already been here and could point me in the right direction though.

undo/unbolt slave not the flex, manually hold it vertical with nipple open facing upwards to gravity fill/overflow whilst keeping master topped up,gently refit slave then lock off nipple & restart bleeding procedure if needed.carefull its a messy job but works 99%

The way I did it was to use a 1.5 meter length of tubing. Connected one end to the bleed nipple on the slave and the other end hanging above the surface of the fluid in the master cylinder. Pumped clutch pedal several times occasionally plugging the end of the tubing with my thumb when letting clutch pedal out and removing thumb whilst pressing in.
Now works great.

I think where I was going wrong was having the tubing pointing downward into a jar containing fluid. I think the tubing needs to be upwards.
