Hi guys - Is just me or does the search facility delight in either showing posts that bear no relationship to the title asked for, or in the case of advanced search keep advising me of an 'error' regardless of what I put in the boxes?
I was simply trying to harvest a few opinions re. stainless exhaust systems vs mild steel for RRC's (3.5efi) as my own exhaust has been in service for over five years now & must be getting near to replacement time. There being less of a price premium for SS these days I was wondering it has any effect on performance or the famous 'burble'

What's the point of fitting an exhaust system that's worth more than the car?

Think the SS full exhaust = £300 ish whereas the MS are £100 ish! A lot less than I thought so I'd probably consider stainless when mine gives up.
I have the same problem with the advanced search but thought that was to do with me being new.

:violent: With an underwriters agreed value of £6k I don't think so Wammers, I did say stainless steel not gold plated

Glad I'm not the only one  I was given four choices after I posted the titles (useful service) but only one applied to RRC & that didn't answer my question

Its the silencers restriction that cuts the noiseless restriction more noise most eu
Legal exhaust systems won't have what you want .

If buying SS MAKE SURE your baffles are made if SS and not mild ;)
But a Janspeed guaranteed for life!
get two silencers one loud ( unrestricted) and one for mot regs .

Pefomance well unless you have altered cam valves carbs ect ect you wouldn't notice with a Mobil brick .

Is it rusted out and got holes in it???????????

Stainless exhaust-systems are fit and forget are they no. :)

I should had one fitted when my 3.5s back box packed up after five years, then the front box the following year, then again replacing the two year old back box etc etc for rest of the time I had the RR.

When my discos back boxes packed after nine years I fitted a SS Janspeed cat-back system so that was nearly six years ago, it cost just under £300 delivered and I fitted it in half an hour, a straight forward and perfect fit (that's hard to find with the other systems on the market) I believe.

As the Janspeed is a performance system the engine is more free rev-ing, after fitting the engines idle speed went straight up to 2000rpm, but after 15 seconds the ECU took control and brought it back down to the usual 750rpm, and the exhaust note now has a deeper tone but with volume no more than the standard factory fit system.

Unfortunately Janspeed don't seem to do systems now for the older LRs
