FL2 TD4- Fed up paying £29.75 tax - any alternatives?

Before the Dieselgate 'scandal', governments (and consumers) were misled into believing that newer diesel vehicles were greener vehicles in terms of all the emissions produced. Certain models/years of FL2 TD4 offer quite favourable tax rates compared to the older FL1 TD4, largely because of this...

    Freelander 1 aerial

I got mine from Rimmers a few years ago. The problem, I guess will be the postage will cost more than the stick. I seem to recall it’s the same as a rover one.

    Plastic panels on FL1 sport

Looks a bit like one of the ideas they played around with during the prototyping stage. Taken from my favourite Freelander book. "You and Your Land Rover Freelander". :-) The Callaway supercharged V6 photos and description later in the book always draw me in.

Freelander 1 Parcel Shelf Colour Change

I wonder if the rubbery paint like plasti dip or rubbercomp/shield would work?

Freelander 1 MAF defect and rail pressure too low?

I had all sorts of problems with my TD4 after leaving it standing idle for a year during lockdown. I was getting strange MAF readings, that actually seemed to decrease as more throttle was applied. Thinking it was a faulty MAF I put a new one in. But had exactly the same dodgy readings. After...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Sorry to see the damage to the roof. I hope you manage to get it sorted out without too much delay and expense. I know it sounds sounds cliché, but the only consolation whenever something like that happens is to be thankful no one was hurt. The speed the wind was blowing could have made those...

    Freelander 1 TD4 29,300 Miles

I know what you mean, I'm surprised how envious I am of such a clean engine bay and components, and non-perished rubber. It looks like a colour version of what you see in a Haynes Manual. It's a good find Andy!

What have you done to your Freelander today

Hoping everyone has been keeping safe today, (and on Wednesday just gone, which was a bit nasty up here too). After my incident with the tree coming down on my vehicle in November, I have been mostly avoiding tree's today! Take car.

    Td4 recon injector problems!

What condition is your fuel rail pressure sensor in? Are there any signs of water having got to the connectors? There is an official LR modified loom to help overcome the problem of water ingress into this sensor. It's worth checking, as it cause me no end of hair pulling last year after my TD4...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Sounds like you have been busy! And a thing of beauty, pressing the cup holder button and watching it magically open up. Apart from loosing the flat space as others have said. These must have been early in the evolution of cup holders, as the only downside I find with mine is that it struggles...

Freelander 1 Idiot Driver damaged my sons FL1

Sorry to see that happen to a nice looking Freelander. The other driver is in a weak position and faces prosecution should the authorities be notified. Either get a tidy amount of cash quickly off him, that will more than cover the repair and aggravation. I'd be looking at least £1k, possibly...

    Freelander 2005 TD4 3door overall build - starting with VCU & bearings

When I needed to replace my VCU a few years ago, I considered a brand new VCU vs a reconditioned one. If money had been no object I would have of course purchased a brand new one. But I read good things about the ones refurbished by Bell Engineering, so with it being about a third of the cost of...

    Freelander 2005 TD4 3door overall build - starting with VCU & bearings

+1 on all these points. I've used Bell a couple of times and have been impressed.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Ouch!, That was a nasty dent too. On such a nice vehicle as well. Sounds like the concrete post saved you a bit in keeping the damage to just the bonnet. But still a pain though. With mine, I'm hoping what I manage to find from the breakers will be a reasonable match to the wings. And that...

    Overrun/running on

I thought the same about the injectors, and instinct made me think the worst, that it was oil causing the run on. But a couple of posts buried on this site suggested the injectors are controlled by the ECU to run for a moment after switch off to help release the common rail pressure, and stop...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Thanks. It definitely could have worse! I was in two minds earlier in the evening about whether to move the cars back, just in case, but the weather forecast said it wasn’t going to be too bad. Hmmm. I shouldn’t have been so lazy. Still, there are no more big trees to come down here any more...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Not quite today, but a little mishap has kept me off here for a while, having to work, and then spend spare time clearing a large tree that decided to come crashing down on the Freelander I’d spent so much time (and money) on getting road worthy last year. Noooo!..... It happened in that storm...

    Overrun/running on

Following last year’s adventures of ridding the FL1 TD4 back from its smoking habit, and after much frustration along the way, it was successfully MOT’d last October. But shortly after getting the MOT a new niggle emerged, being that the engine would occasionally run on after switching off...

HELP Freelander MAF running issues (FIXED)

I had all sorts of issues earlier this year in that the diagnostics were suggesting the MAF readings wrong. But when I had two MAFs doing the same thing I got suspicious. I replaced the fuel rail sensor and put the upgraded harness in, and it instantly solved the dodgy MAF readings.

An excellent achievement getting that sorted Nodge. Good photos for the rest of us to look at too! It makes the FL1 engine bay look cavernous.
