Hi back in july I was working at a car show it was very hot (34'c) so had the fL1 td4 running for my daughter to sit in with the AC on, when we left the show I drove up the road about 2miles then the engine backed off the power and EML light came on, I pulle Dover turned off engine and restarted it again and it ran fine, fast forward to mid August and on the way home from holiday it backed off power again wouldn't accelerate properly so got under the bonnet finally I disconnected the MAF and it ran fine again so drove home with it disconnected, ordered a new MAF (pierberg) and synergy2 car ran fine for around 30-40 miles then do the same, disconnected the MAF and it ran fine again. I put it down to a duff MAF so got a replacement under warrantee and fitted it but this time still didn't work right, disconnected the synergy and tried again and no difference. So ordered a Bosch original maff for it and still doesn't run correctly with it connected, it drives then backs off power then bursts back into life and then backs off again, iv plugged it in to diagnostics I did get and error code p0103 but also the output signal reading for the MAF is 13.4 GS at idle which I believe is way to high and should be between 2-7gs at idol surely it can't be a 3rd faulty MAF that is the issue I'm starting to lose faith in the car now as I just want it running properly please help

I believe the one with the knowledge is put a head back on his car today but will probably be along soon

can’t be that serious so hopefully someone will point you in right direction

and your air con is still working!
so jealous

Will air leaks cause the problem? Pipes can have small holes that open up when warm.
Does the MAF reading rise with increased RPM?

I do believe that airlesks can cause it iv replaced the vac hoses as this was mentioned but it made no difference... I have had the inlet manifold off and the seals had seen better days so I've ordered a new set of seals and will see if that helps.. the MAF reading does increase with rpm

It's not the MAF.
Have you checked the rail sensor for corrosion?
That's where I'd start looking, especially if the overlay harness hasn't been fitted (the rail sensor will have a green plug if not), so that's the place to start.

Is that the plug just below the injectors where you would plug the synergy box
into?

I had all sorts of issues earlier this year in that the diagnostics were suggesting the MAF readings wrong. But when I had two MAFs doing the same thing I got suspicious. I replaced the fuel rail sensor and put the upgraded harness in, and it instantly solved the dodgy MAF readings.

Issue SOLVED managed to borrow a friend's launch x431 master, ran diagnostics had error for fuel rail pressure and MAF sensor so cleared the codes and then had option to reset adaptions so did a reset and car now runs perfect did a 20mile run and plugged launch back in a have no error codes..... Job done

Good news, is reset adaptions basically clearing the engine management 'learnt' memory??

Not heard of that facility on a diag tool.
Anyone clarify?

Yeah I think it resets the peramiters for the MAF as the new MAF may be slightly different hence causing issues running.. from what I read online it basically resets the settings to 0.0 so it basically relearns with he new readings for the new MAF instead of trying to run the old MAF settings

I've not seen an adaptations reset for the FL1.

I reset them on my FL2, just in case the ECM had learnt something it shouldn't, and I'm going to reset them again using SDD, now the engine mechanicals working correctly.
