The hidden bolt
The corroded brackets, I intend to strip the whole thing again in a few weeks and clean it all up and paint with por15
Damn photo will not upload
I did post a lot of pics on another thread, struggle to post them from Tenerife as the wifi is slow. but here is assembly unbolted, you can remove the whole thing by unclipping the pipes at the back the blue bits push in.
Yep, seens pics like that before, that head is not going to get good coolant flow, at least mone had holes, some of yours are completely blocked.
Will be doing my engine in the next couple of months and will using the die grinder this time.
agree with everything you have said. add to that some of the head castings waterways are nearlt closed with casting flash that was not removed and you can have a very poor engine. When I did the gasket on the TF 14 months ago I was going to gring out the waterways but ran out of time. The TF...
Welcome to the world of hippo driving. Once you fixed that clink, there will be another along shortly. Mine just developed one on the front drivers side suspension. Can only hear it when driving down the rough track to our allotment.
when i do a compression test, I do a couple of initial tests to get an average value. I then pour some oil into the cylinder and redo the test. if its a ring issue you get a much higher reading. if its a valve issue nothing changes.
I believe the MG TF brakes are Meastro items and they a scary as hell on ours. I am waiting to find a HGF with the twin pot calipers and wheels too suit. cheaper to buy a car than the parts seperate. Plus get lots of spare items too.
When i return from holiday , I will be selling the Transit van thats sat on my drive. Then its 3 door project time, been looking at L series but there are not too many around so may have to be a TD4. I really like the tuning ability of the L series I am reading about on here.
Added to the fact LR decided to spec fudge as a material to make some of the parts on our freelanders. I only need look at my fuel tank cradle and more bits drop off. I must replace it before the tank ends up on the floor.
Joe H,
I dont as a rule use grips. Mole grips being next to useless compared to the Irwins. but once you have a corroded rounded fastener/nut/ bolt head the vice grips can get you out of problem position.
There were slight diffrences in thevliner heights of our MGTF I did 12 months ago. Thats porbably why it need doing again. I think I will use the elastomer one next time.
