As per my original post. One side is a tad higher than the other. I'm just trying to determine which one is correct (or not). Saves me scrabbling about underneath. I've suspected a height sensor for a while.
Having just replaced the air bags my car seems to be a tad high on the drivers side (RHD).
Does anybody know what the correct ride-height is, both with engine running and not. Disco II on 18" wheels, 255/55 tyres.
Just a thought. Is it possible a previous owner has tried to use a hard metal sump plug washer instead of a copper one and it has broken up and ended up in the sump? Stranger things have happened.
As far as I know changing to springs is only half the story. I'm pretty sure you have to change the anti-roll bars as well to be fully compatible to springs, and I guess they are not cheap.
Make sure you're not going down the wrong avenue with your diagnosis. It could be the starter solenoid playing up. When it is worn cranking will be intermittent or not at all.
Take more care looking for leaks. They are not always obvious. Look down the righthand side of the engine to the bottom of the top hose. Water pump could be leaking. Other than that, thermostat could be stuck shut or rad header tank cap leaking.
