Have a similar size Richardson trailer, weighs slightly more than yours. Tows beautifully, in fact you forget it's on even when loaded with 1 tonne or more.# Are you sure your bar is secure. Have you checked your chassis rails?

Mines 17.5 inches from ground to top of ball without engine running (so add an inch on that when engine running). Note the correct tyre size for 18" wheels is 255/55R18. Is your towbar solidly fixed? ie, no rot around towing bolts.

Tyre pressures on trailer and Disco?

Have you checked your tyres for unequal wear and also pressures?

Not had to fix one but the 'park' switch will be in the rear motor.

Sure its not the aircon pulley?

Hole in intercooler pipe perhaps, causes loud whistle?

Your tyre pressures on the front are a bit high. Should be 28psi.

You're making the assumption that the "bang" is coming from the diff. It's bound to make a bit of a clunk in that stationary position because you're taking up the backlash in the pinion to crownwheel, ie, metal on metal. Check your oil level by all means but I would suggest the noise is coming...

Have a look to see if your water pump is leaking. Shine a torch down the side of the top hose and look for water lying on the **** plate.

Stick at it, should work eventually.

Try spraying the inside of the key slot with penetrating oil (with the small application tube). Work the key in and out until you get some movement.

Interestingly I fitted a new "upgraded" FPR from LR to my 10p engine and it had a different gasket pattern to the original.

If I interpret Brian47's post correctly I think he means there is a difference in play with the engine running or not, which there is.

CV joint perhaps. Try putting it on full right lock and drive in a circle to see if it is worse. Try left full lock as well.

Sounds to me something is out of line causing stress on the motor. Does the glass slide up and down easily (door card off)? Could you have left a nut/bolt off when you repaired it the first time?

Sounds more like the starter contacts to me which will give you intermittent starting.

It's the early ones I am referring to above. The one I bought from LR had a different gasket pattern to the one I took off my 99 car.
