Hi guys new to here so looking for some technical help!

I've had my discoery td5 for about 8 months now and after washing it on Tuesday I went outside to move it on Wednesday and it wouldn't unlock using the key fob but the little red light on the key was flashing when the buttons were pressed.

I put the key in the drivers door and unlocked it and opened the door and the alarm went off after numerous times of opening and shutting and locking and unlocking the doors the alarm still went off when the door was opened.

When i got into the truck i tried starting it with the alarm going off and it wouldn't start so i assume the immobilizer was engaged. I also tried using the rocker switch for the central locking inside the truck but it wasn't working either.

I've been reading up on this subject with other people having the same problems with their receivers in the roof so i have removed the plastics and roof lining and noticed there was a fair bit of condensation on the roof so i have had the electric heater in all day and also used a hair dryer to dry the central locking receiver in case water had gotten into it but I am still no further on.

I have also looked for the EKA code but it has been removed from the service book and is no where to be seen!

I opened the truck ans locked it again on Tuesday night and it was working fine but after yesterday morning it wouldn't work.

Can anyone shed some light on the problem? it would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi, sierrafury will know, he is the resident elctricity man,
r ps don't call it a truck, the abuse may start if you continue to do so, they are very sensative on here

Welcome!!!:welcome2:

I sometimes have this problem.....I normally unlock with the key but without opening the door and then locking it with the key fob....this normally works.....you can then unlock it again with the key fob....

Well as u have condensation around or perhaps inside the remote receiver it's now possibly faulty.
Alarm activating when using the key to unlock will happen its due to the central locking.
And the access code is obtainable from your nearest LR dealer.
I would think most D2 owners would know that this receiver issue is now common one, according to the Forums, of course it may be not, and it is one of the 700 improvements the D2 has on the D1 :D

Thanks!

The EKA was originally provided on a "security information card" which had a few of the more sensitive details about your vehicle.
If the EKA hasn't been changed by a previous owner, then you can get it from any LR main stealer. All you need is proof of ownership and I think they still do it for free.

Thanks for the help guys, i know where there is an old td5 so ill try and get my hands on its receiver unit, will it be just a case of swapping them over or does the other receiver unit need to be installed into the disco?

Yeah im gunna phone my local LR dealer tommorrow and try to get the EKA number just so i can shift it to a more suitible place for just now.

everytime i reconnect the battery now though the alarm goes off so to stop it i lock the doors using the keys but within a minute the alarm goes off again. soooo annoying :(

Mines been like that ever since I had it. Works perfectly in the summer but hates the winter, just like me!!

there is a more complex issue here if the central locking doesnt work from the dash switch either, or two separate problems, the receiver is one and the central locking the other, first check fuse F1 interior fusebox, if it's good and the central locking doesnt work there might be a problem or with the IDM(part of the interior fusebox) or with the BCU, anyway forst step would be to remobilise it with EKA but find somebody with tester and set the alarm to "always disarm with key" to be on teh safe side though if the alarm goes off without reason we'll get back to that IDM/BCU problem , see this http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/recommendation-d2-owners-184078.html , meanwhile check if there's no water ingress to the fusebox cos that's very common
