If it's for a road vehicle there are issues with reusing chassis - you need to buy new from the manufacturer and get the relevant paperwork to keep your reg.

Try rotating it to loosen it - or take the clamp plate off the block and remove it from the dizzy on the bench. The clamp is only held on with one bolt.

If you've got a decent spark on all four cylinders I'd check you've put the HT leads on in the right order. Order is 1342 (it's cast into the inlet manifold) cylinder 1 is at the front, should be fed from the dizzy cap connector that points to the front of the block, dizzy goes anticlockwise.

Oil specified for diesels - it's got more detergent in it and it's better for older diesel engines. 10/40 if you live in the cold north, 20/50 if you live in the balmy south.....

Remove the cap but leave the HT leads on, remove the vacuum pipe and lead from the coil, undo the pinch bolt, NOTE THE ORIENTATION OF THE DIZZY and pull it out - should come without too much of a struggle but if it doesn't you can unbolt the clamp from the block and take the whole lot out. Are they large and small spade connectors? Connect the big connectors to the + speaker outputs and the small ones to the - speaker outs. Should work fine.

Never had trouble getting my series 3 petrol up to 70 on a long straight bit, old 2.25 engine, standard diffs and all. Bloody noisy and uncomfortable, though. Much nicer on the back roads at 45 but the only viable way past Bristol is the M5 and you daren't go that slow on that bit of road!

I've had issues with hills on, of all things, an Austin Allegro. The little bit of extra lift needed to get fuel into the carb on a slope was just too much for the failing fuel pump. New pump fixed the problem for good.
