What have you done to your Landie today.

I believe heated front screens were actually an option in Series Land Rovers in the70’s

Series 3 New paint job for the Series

Repainted mine in original two pack paint, Bronze Green. My personal experience of the synthetic enamel is that it chalks easily and needs periodic polishing. The two pack is harder and more durable. Obviously, the colour is technically the same whichever you choose.

    Windscreen angles and soft top

You'll probably find that the seals push the door tops out and you'll be readjusting again. Good game, good game!

    Dash recovering

Bought my grained vinyl from Dunelm. Seemed good quality - not too thin but very flexible and folded nicely around the tight edges.

    Rims.....

Got the same type rims on mine because I wanted to run tubeless tyres. Painted limestone they look the same as the regular series rims.

Series 3 Anyone fitted a dash cam in a Series 3?

Everything seems to happen so slowly in my Series 3 diesel that I'm sure I've got plenty of time to grab my phone, bail out, take a video and upload to You Tube.

    Slave cylinder rubbers (Brakes)

I used Delphi cylinders and 4 years on they all still seem good.

    Pub Door Tops

Really like those. Appear to be a well thought out idea.

Series 3 Newbee - Mystery Oil Leak. Help please?

The rear crank seal is likely to be a bit costly to have done by a garage. It's the labour cost that does it. The seal is probably less than a tenner. The engine can be pulled out to do it, might be easier. For the sake of a few more quid, as they're in there it's worth replacing the clutch...

Series 3 Newbee - Mystery Oil Leak. Help please?

Welcome :) There will always be things to fix. What you have there though is a leaking rear main seal. Many leak a spot or two from there but that does look quite oily and probably needs replacing. I believe it can be done in situe but the gearbox will need separating from the engine and...

    Series 3 Mysterious bracket

I think Rob could be right. Farm Jack bracket

    Should I or shouldn't I?

Enjoy your new purchase. Sounds like a well considered decision.

    Security

I use an Ardcase pedal lock and a steering wheel lock. There is some additional security too which I won’t mention. ;-)

Sounds like the start if a great project. Do keep us up to date with progress (and piccies!). :)

Series 3 Time to change to the canvas

Well my insurers seem to acknowledge this but I have a slight mis-trust of most. My registration document has mine down as an estate vehicle. However, as part of my renewal at the end of last year I supplied them with updated photos of the vehicle showing the canvas configuration (the need new...

Series 3 Time to change to the canvas

Certainly adds character to the vehicle and makes journeys a bit more fun which is what it's all about. I informed my insurance company when I made the change. They made a note but said as its classed as a utility vehicle with them there is no cost change. I just wanted to cover my @rse in case...

    Series 2a 1971 swb

Yes, the seal is a thick neoprene type seal that sits on forward of the bolts on the lower ledge closer to the front of the screen.

    Series 2a 1971 swb

There should be a seal, about 6mm thick there.

Series 3 Rear differential oil seal

I've no personal experience of Britpart seals on this application but personally I'd avoid. I think the one I used was Corteco.

Series 3 Time to change to the canvas

Having changed mine to a full tilt I don't think I'll ever put the hard top back on. It's just as warm in the winter and there's nothing nicer than rolling up the back ang sides in the warm sunshine and going for a drive.
