    Is there a reason why I couldn't use a flat piece of 1 or 1.2 mm sheet steel for the floor rather than buying a replacement floor section? Its just I might be able to get the sheet steel free!!

Disco1BFG - I have some good news I ran a fuel pipe from the lift pump to a can of diesel (By passing the fuel tank) and the the engine ran perfectly it revs great so the is obviously air getting in...
