Starting fine, but won’t move backwards or forewords?

Mine was seizing when I left it on the handbrake overnight. What I did was put the handbrake on as normal, then back it off one click and leave the car in gear, first or reverse, depending on any incline. It has never seized again. I have just replaced all the rear brakes and drums, so I will...

    Freelander 1 fuel tank support.

Strange site this. I can't say ****ing down, but I can access lots of pics of women flashing their gash!

    Freelander 1 fuel tank support.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I have nothing to attach to, the plates are just confetti. The main support bars are tubular and rotted as well. I am going to get a bracket and see about cutting in half and rebolting it. I have spent around ten days underneath the car. I've changed back brakes...

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

For some reason the stand off ( the bit the spring clips go on ) on the shoes was a couple of mil higher making the pins too short.

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

Returned the brake shoes which were the correct ones, for refund, got a set from jgs4x4 and they went on without any drama.

I think I will go the cutting in half route and plate and bolt together, I think the other route will open a can of worms.

    Freelander 1 fuel tank support.

Honestly, it is next to nothing. Don't need anything between the straps and tank as there is white plastic bucket type things covering the bottom of the tank. I have seen things corrode like that during my diving career, it's sacrificial, all the corrosion is directed at the weaker metal. The...

    Freelander 1 fuel tank support.

You have to support the tank, drop the drive shaft, break the back exhaust section and lower the sub frame. It's a nightmare. I think I will look at making my own.

    Freelander 1 fuel tank support.

Thanks for reply. I can get a new one for £69, but it's a big job to fit.

    Freelander 1 fuel tank support.

Just changed handbrake cables and while I was underneath I noticed a total lack of fuel tank support, it's gone! Had an MOT last May and it passed, I can only assume the guy missed it because it wasn't there. I have looked at the available brackets and it is a bit beyond me to change it while...

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

At the moment mate, I have not got the heart to strip it all down yet again. I am going to leave it for a few days, then decide on its future.

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

Checked new pins with a micrometer, exactly same length and diameter as the old ones. Compared the shoes with the old ones, apart from the wear, they are the same, checked the part Nos. they are right. The back of the pin holes rubbed down to bare metal and greased. Back plate is not bent or out...

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

2006 TD4, definitely the right shoes. I rate changing the rear brake shoes as a two/three hour job, it's been on an axle stand three days now. Going SORN tomorrow, save on road tax and insurance, then it will be bodge and flog. Going back to Honda. Pity as the car has never let me down, it's...

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

Thanks for your reply mate. The pins are the same length as the ones I took off, they just don't stand proud enough in the new shoes to get the clips on. I am stripping it down and taking the bits back to Land Rover. Ps Had a car mechanic have a go this morning, no joy. Over the years I have...
