    I guess if it's not leaking, could be valve guides but with a 19j engine, more often than not it's pistons/rings. Can also be Turbo. Is there much smoke under load?

    I've always preferred the original style black finish personally. As most galvanized chassis are not stamped with a chassis number, this makes them a very easy (and obvious) target for ringing. Don't forget to etch the surface with T-wash and prime before painting.

    Make sure he doesn't just plate over the bulkhead rot with the plates. The rot should be all cut out before the panels are welded on, otherwise you will be doing it all again in a few years time.

    It may be worthwhile considering the safety aspects of inwards facing seats. I took mine out as I didn't want to seat the kids in them. If inwards facing, seat belts, lap or 3-point don't help much in the event of an accident.

    Well I went through the shimming procedure as defined in the workshop manual and it turned out that I needed 1.35 mm shims. This is quite a lot thicker than the 1.05 mm shims included in the Ashcrofts kit. I mention this because it's probably worth checking properly if you do one of these boxes...

    Bumper bolts sheared

    Three of mine sheared too when I attempted to remove them. Luckily, they sheared just near the captive nut so I was able to extract them through the cutaways in the rails. I dumped load of waxoyl and used stainless bolts with Copperslip when re-installing. Sorry, that doesn't help you much though!
