I have fully rebuilt my 90 brakes with new master cylinder, new calipers, pipies, flexis, shoes and wheel cylinders and 250 miles later, despite being correctly adjusted, their performance is still lack lustre. I'm planning on fitting a disco axle with discs. I care not for originality if the brakes don't stop!
Interesting comments @flat. Yes, the shoes are fitted correctly, with springs installed as they should be as well as leading edge in the correct place. I have Mintex pads front and same for shoes in the rear. Not the best friction material, but not bad either.
If I pump the pedal a few times, the braking does not really improve, so surely that rules out adjustment?
I'm now wondering about the new front calipers. They are Allmakes and I am not convinced of their quality. Master cylinder and slaves were Delphi though.
shouldnt be odd ballNo worries mines back on axle stands still waiting for rear prop.
had one made as v8 lt85 90 has oddball rear prop.
Then i can get on with bedding in my brakes again
a different prop for an lt95,but lt85 is the same as a lt77v8 or a 300tdi if factory fitI'm not sure of length but land rover list different prop for early v8 90?
prices ranging from 400 to 750 ish if i remember correctly.
theres 3, 1 for lt95 with incorporated transfer box,and 2 with lt230,lt85 uses lt230 like lt77 and r380,lt230 fits slightly further forward when v8 or 300tdi are fitted hence the bulge in the tunnel near hand brake lever ,thats not there with all the other pre 300tdi 4 cylinder enginesIm no expert but its different up to CA254406 chassis number.
Im just going on what paddocks told me.
mine starts with AA.
if id known id just bought normal one crap!

td5 is the same as 300tdi and v8 ,but to be certain you want a few measurementsSo should i send it back and buy the cheaper "normal" one.
I see its different again for later v8's same as td5?
Im a bit confused so a normal 300tdi would of fitted fine?
Ill be sending it back if thats the case
