    110 Wheel Arch Storage

Hello all, I'm planning on building in a storage box into my wheel arch of my 110, similar to this: Defender 110 Station Wagon 2007 on, storage locker fitted into the left hand side rear quarter. But accessible from the inside. However, my rear tub isn't currently fitted so I'm not...

Well I was looking for £60 mark. And looking on fleabay and knowing how much I paid for my replacement that's a good deal.

    land anchor tow bar alternatives.

Yeah that's the best bet, I welded a steel plate over one end to cap it off, and use a warn 2" receiver plug in the other end.

    Salisbury rear axle

Was hoping for a touch more than that. If it comes to it I'll take out the diff and half shafts and scrap it. But I'd rather it went to a home where is would be used for the purpose intended.

    land anchor tow bar alternatives.

I welded one of these into my cross member. Seems good so far, and there are a number of different attachments for it. drop plate for tow bar, recovery shackle, winch. But it could fill up with mud so will need cleaning out now and then, or use the plug as suggested.

Help please! what brake fluid for my 110?

Use DOT 4 or above. Look at the cap on the brake fluid reservoir that should tell you. IIRC the DOT rating is the fire retardance offered by the oil. The newer, the more fire retardant the oil the higher the DOT rating.

    Changing gear without a clutch

Even on bikes changing without a clutch can have adverse effects, but less so than a car, as its different type of gear box. I some times change down without the clutch on the bike, but only when I want to tit about, doesn't make for a smooth ride but it can be fun :D So yes, over a long...

    Spare Wheel Relocation

Mount it on the back side panel, externally. Like the MOD Wolfs. Type Defender Wolf into Google if you want an example.

    Windscreen Washer Replacement

Try via the ash tray first, if it has an ashtray. But to change the jet you have to get to the bolt on the other side of the washer jet, on the other side of the bulkhead, which is obscured by the dash.

    Painting a role cage

If you can stomach the price, Eastwood's Extreme Chassis black is hard wearing and looks good. Or some type of epoxy paint.

That's nothing the puddle in my back garden has got so deep because of the non-stop rain, I can swim in it. Beats any warm beach, hands down.

    Fitting HID's to a defender

Oh OK I didn't know it came into affect in 2010, you're right it would be impossible to prove legally. So its a good idea unless your Defender was registered after the date in 2010 when it was made law. And you are right again, incorrectly set up lights are annoying. If you're going to go...

    Fitting HID's to a defender

Fitting HID's to a vehicle without self levelling lights and no washers is illegal. And it still might get through an MOT OK, depends of the tester. Its is often over looked, because as everyone has quite rightly pointed out, its not the end of the world fit HID to a vehicle, whether its...

    2.5 n/a 92 defender fitted from new?

I brought an 1985 N/A (ex Mod) and I remember at the time there was a bit of hate for the TD. Not sure if that was because the TD was new and scary, or if the people I was talking to didn't have a clue, it was a long time ago. The storey sounds fairly legit, you do yet new un-registered...

Upgrading from ma 90 , what next?

For that sort of money, you could get a nice V8, maybe around the 89 year (saw a nice brown and beige one advertised recently) and spend the rest on fuel... No electrics, fair power, HUGE smile (between refuelling). Good times. :D

starter motor problem help guys :)

First off I would try the battery, Charging, charged. Holding / delivering charge.. Then hit the starter with a hammer, to get a bit of life back in her. Might be a few dead contacts. Maybe try turning the starter (rock the defender in gear). Then if that fails it may be an elecy...
