    P38A Fuel pump failure

When replacing lift pump remember not to buy cheap aftermarket and eurospare pump(theese are petrol pumps, even though there is diesel part number on box, gives way to much pressure which alters injection pump dynamic timing and tank breather is shorter allowing to pour 10l more fuel). Proper...

Buy TD04-11G-4 turbo from BMW/Opel, replace compressor housing with yours, fit to your engine and it wil probably be ok.

P38A Tow Bar Fitting + Electrics OEM

Mine didn't have one when i've bought it, but it was almost 11 years ago. :D Bought BOSAL aftermaret one, it's similiar to genuine one, doesn't hang like a plow.

    P38 dse viscous fan failure.

No need to do that, just remove AC relays for fans and bridge two of them for high speed, and one fol slow speed.

    m51d25 loses power

If everything is new, then i would check exhaust for clogging. But low fuel consumption on guage means there is no fuel enrichment at all, maybe there is vacum connected to MAP sensor instead of intake manifold line. It's simple engine with simple electronics, just need proper diagnostics...

    Engine cutting out?

Check stop solenoid wiring - sometimes the loop just fall off. :D

    P38A Fuel injection pump tools?

It's not hard, just lots of dismantling. Timing locking kit is a must. I use Jonnesway one - it's cheap and good quality. Also new center bolts for crankshaft and camshaft needed, as they are one time use only. It's a bit risky and irritating if you don't remove head.

P38A what mpg do you get out of your 2.5 deisel

Those engines often get timing chains streched at high mileage and requires resetting camshaft position. It affects MPG slightly. This is also a cure for lack of low end and midrange power, if it's slowing on every slight uphill then there is a problem. What a bugger that you need to remove...

    P38A Fuel injection pump tools?

Worn out injection pump. Sometimes worn timing chains give funny faults, but then timing modulation and start of injection usually goes nuts..

Both my MY1998 models have no EGR and MAF, last digits are WA389..., WA399..., MY1999 one is something like XA417 or 412, but have to check this as i don't remember, it's one of the first from MY1999.

P38A FIP refurbished and refitted - no power and very smokey

I will have a look later, as sister is using it. I'm using two true MY98 P38', and theese are sooo much better than the one with EGR and MAF. Less to go wrong and faster. Currently changing engine and making an experiment with bigger turbo(TD04-15T with light compressor wheel) and 11mm pump...

P38A FIP refurbished and refitted - no power and very smokey

I have MY99 with EGR and MAF sensor, newer 4 wheel ETC, but orange indicators and it does not have one. Some kind of cross model. So MY99 does not always mean all things are newer desing.
