I averaged around 25mpg from my '99 DIesel.

Going to work in stop start traffic I average 15.8 mpg, still cheaper than public transport. longer runs I get an average of 26-29 mpg. Think I'll try what Wammers suggests reset at 50, 60, 70 just out of curiosity.
The In tank pump is on its way out would that affect the mpgGet up to 50 then reset computer see what is returns then over a run of more than 6 tenths of a mile at that speed. That will be your true fuel usage at 50. If you do a lot of slow stuff stop start in traffic, then do a stretch at 50 it will show your average MPG for all use. Fuel use depends on the terrain you drive over and driving style. People who drive mostly on the flat on good runs at speeds over 50 will get good figures. People who are up hill down dale at speeds lower than 50 will get reduced figures. Check for leaks in fuel return system spills etc.
theres plenty of power very rare it loses power on hills it's got to be really steep then when you give it a bit more pedal it accelerates up the hill , the engine has only done 80.000 has no hot start issue runs niceThose engines often get timing chains streched at high mileage and requires resetting camshaft position. It affects MPG slightly.
This is also a cure for lack of low end and midrange power, if it's slowing on every slight uphill then there is a problem.
What a bugger that you need to remove head(to do it properly with no leaks after) to replace timing chains, rails and sprockets.

Change it then.Yeah only getting 80mil
