Ha! I had the same problem today and the heater fan was off

    Transfer box swap defender

I don't do loads but a few times a year. The majority of my driving is motorway but the 33" tyres are about the same as a 1.2 box on the tyres it was on

    Td5 knocking sound from underneath

it sounds like a problem I too have. I've tried running with no aux belt on (only short run as it operates the water pump), today I took off the rear prop and it still happens. I've found play in my handbrake drum so that's on the must do list, I've had quite a leak for a while so I must do it...

    Transfer box swap defender

that's interesting because my td5 is on a 1.2 and 33's but I feel it's flat and towing is a chore. I've got a few leaks and play on the rear output shaft so I'm thinking of swapping for a 1.4 rather than stripping it down

    Air conditioning

who needs air con? I've got 2 front windows and 2 bulkhead flaps, don't need any open to get a nice draft going!!

Fluctuating temperature when towing in Td5

before ripping the motor to bits try bump starting it. I did seals pump and all kinds to get mine running. It turned out to be a dodgy starter motor that was spinning fine but a was arcing and messing with the crank position sensor, it turned over fine and wasnt slow or anything. Reconditioned...

Fluctuating temperature when towing in Td5

the td5 has what is known as a viscous fan. They turn all the time, best bet is Google it and read up on how they work. Have you any obvious water leaks anywhere? water pump? hoses etc? if so start there. If not a pressure test at a garage or having the expansion bottle tested with a sniffer...

TD5 starting diificult but runs very well

does it bump start ok? The starter motors can cause problems with noose on the crank position sensor and stop them starting even though they turn over fine. If it's a bugger to bump it's not the starter motor

    Overheating and need some help...

sounds like a head gasket or a cracked head\cylinder to me. Combustion pressure is causing the system to leak like the rad and its the blowing and gassing your getting out of the expansion tank

    Defender td5 front hub preload

I've just rebuilt the wheel bearings on one rear and one front on mine. Like you I had the same issue so I removed the spacer from the front and went to the old double nut system and on the rear I put the spacer in but didn't go to the mega torque and adjusted it like a old style one. I'm...

    crankshaft broke discovery 3

mine did the same a few years back. 2011 ish when the landy was 4 yrs old. Main bearings spun and blocked off the oil way and seized solid almost instantly snapping the crank. Mine needed a replacement short Block and 2 cylinder heads. If it happened again now I'd be looking for a jag (same...

    Attempted Theft of my Defender

that is the trend and tested way of getting them I'm afraid. Normally they pish a back quater light through rather than damaging the door. what you need to do is reinstall the sounder and the horn back in the car but not behind the light and move the wiring away from the edge of the wing...
