    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Oh and the starter motor seems to have given up the ghost.. Went to move it yesterday and nothing, starter just clicks, added a temporary earth and still nothing, made a new permanent one up anyway while I was their just in case. Seems strange for it to just give up completely all at once as...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Well chaps not a lot has happened of late, I had last week off work and went and helped a friend finish his rebuild all week, it was nice to be involved in something other than my own builds for once :) I had planned to finish some bits and bobs off on mine on Saturday, but it ****ed it down...

    Defender 90 td5 chassis swap

Come on Ralph, do you really need to ask this, you have had most of the body off in the past on this vehicle and know where the bolts are, and when we did the bulkhead alignment we removed the wings, so you know where they are, and not to forget you have just stripped and put back together a 110...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Haha, things must have just gone to plan, although I have been quite busy without it, but a weekends work is probably about right, and yes I will most likely start another one shortly :D Removing all the red paint sounds drastic  What are you doing that for? I would assume terrible...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Cheers chap :) Thanks :) Back on hold slightly for a short while, but hope to send it for an MOT within the next 2-3 weeks. Haha, don't say that ;) That was my thoughts for the next build  Closed cell underlay stuff is the same stuff as you bought mate ;) Didn't realise how much came...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

So to continue.. The roof lining was then stripped of the old material and re-trimmed, if I'm honest it hasn't come out great, but it will do until I find a complete one in better condition as it is better than a bare roof with nothing on. Put some rivnuts in the chassis and fitted some...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

So, the first update in a while, not a lot has happened in truth, but we aren't far off now. The last update I had just fitted the grill/headlight surrounds, well after that I decided to get some LED headlights. Put the floors in, trans tunnel and seatbox lids in. The rear was then...

P.S, sorry for the slow reply chaps, forgot to reply and then half went off updating the thread for one reason or the other, but back now, updates to come.

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Haha :D thankyou for the kind comments :) In truth, not a lot, the odd trip out and the 1 mile commute to work every day. Well I have stuck with the black bud :) And the end caps do come off, it is a standard bumper underneath, not sure if they will stay or not yet. Thanks bud :) Nothing...

    Rear tub advise

That is correct, you need a new sender, part number WQB100430. This is the ROW spec pump, similar to the td5 ones, but without a pump and only an inlet and outlet.

Anyone going to the Peterborough show

You are too kind, but I'll take that as a compliment :) No reason why I shouldn't be their, not a lot to do now, mainly tinker with the interior and send it for an MOT.

Anyone going to the Peterborough show

I am wanting to go, depends if I have got my project on the road by then.

    Rear tub advise

In short, yes. But you will either need to fit a rear plastic tank, or re-route the existing pipework to the rear filler. I have done td5 tub on my 200tdi 90, and have gone with the rear plastic tank, but I have seen pipework re-routed before and it does the job.

    Anyone Galvanized Swivel Housings?

Yes I had a lot of stuff galvanised, including the axle casings them selves done, I didn't actually have the swivel housings done, it was something I debated long and hard and in the end decided it was a step to far and ended up with paint. Paint I used a Corroless primer (supposedly the dogs...

Installing the Britpart side window kit to a 90 Van body - tips?

You should get some pictures of your project up as well mate ;):D Not seen any for a while and hope all is going well bud.

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Well thank-you for all the kind comments chaps, you are all too kind, but it means a lot and happy to hear you like what I am doing.. And a small update, last weekend was mainly spent tidying up all the little jobs that just get left but soon mount up, got some oil in the...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Well I had to google that, bloody thicko I am  Cheers Ben :) Cheers Paul :) Thanks mate :) I sometimes wonder if I should have gone rag top or not, was a hard decision at the time. Thanks :) I suppose I do alright, you just have to make the most of what you've got I suppose, even...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild (round 3)

Good morning chaps and chapesses, about time I updated this thread, had a 4 day weekend one before last, to A) Get the garden finished, cleaned up and filled an 8T skip. And B) Get something done on the LR. Well it worked roughly how I wanted and managed the get the front end on finally, and...

    Td5 tank support

If it is in the cradle underneath then that is the only part available for td5 90. It can't really go anywhere once the tub is secured and filler neck/pipes are on, I thought similar when I first saw one.

110 defender rebuild project and v8 conversion

Yep, that is exactly it Adam, I am using a td5 tub on my 200tdi spec chassis and have done it the exact same way, all the panels are now on and have had no issues with aligning the panels, tub/bulkhead/doors etc..
