    Series 3 bulkhead repair attempt

Hi Steve, I think seeing how others tackle the job is very helpful .either on this site or you tube. I dont have as much tin worm as you which makes it an easier job. After finishing all the repair work I intend getting it sandblasted along with the radiator panel plus a few other parts...

    Series 3 bulkhead repair attempt

I have some pics of the footwell which I am replacing. All parts are from YRM and are excellent quality. The only criticism is the the flange on the top corner repair could have been 10 mm deeper. But I welded a bit on so no problems. The main footwell part was a good fit. I ground off about 2...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Cutting and tearing out the drivers side footwell on the series 3. Got a new pillar and top corner of the bulkhead welded in . I went a bit wild with the flap disc but a bit of body filler will hide it. Pics later .

    YRM FOOTWELL PANELS

Thanks guys, I looked on the YRM site and it only showed the small hole type. Mine has a servo fitted. Angle grinder job. cheers Peter

    YRM FOOTWELL PANELS

Hi folks I notice that the YRM supplied right hand drivers side footwell panel has the same size slot for clutch and brake. My existing panel has a much deeper slot for the brake. Is it a standard part and we have to cut it out to suit? I haven't got the brake bracket at the moment to check...

    Other Stub axle solution

I believe if you change the stub axle to an earlier type you have to change the outer half shaft. Please correct me if i am wrong.

What have you done to your Landie today.

I made a pigs ear out of welding a bit of the bulkhead. Nothing structural. Try again tomorrow.

What have you done to your Landie today.

I went into the garage with the intentions of welding a small piece of plate onto the stripped bulkhead. I was freezing cold and had a bellyache so i shut up the garage and went back inside.

    Bulkhead stiffeners

Yes they are the bits, The bulkhead is completely stripped of parts and still fitted to the chassis. I have all the parts to rebuild the bulkhead. Pillars, feet, top corners, footwells. I referred to the inside metal as stiffeners as that is what I was told they are called. I have not seen any...

    Bulkhead stiffeners

Hi folks Are there any exploded views of the series 3 bulkheads showing the stiffeners inside? I have searched online without success I was cutting down top corner of my bulkhead when I went through a stiffener only about 50 mm. Didn't know it was there. Fortunately I can weld it back together...

    Is this foot worth repairing?

Hmm, I think "can't be arsed" is the deciding factor. Thinking about cleaning all the inside up makes me looks towards new ones. They can be repaired.but they would look better in the council scrap bin. New ones it is. I should have got them when I bought the floor panels and pillars, and top...

    Is this foot worth repairing?

Hi All, Based on cost of replaceing with new, against cleaning and welding in a couple of patches. There are two places that need cutting out plus gnawed metal which the tin worm has munched a bit. 1983 series 3. Worth repairing? As well as that. How would you reconnect it to the pillar? There...

    Vertical Bulkhead

Hi The only way I can get the bulkhead near vertical is by forcing the two chassis brackets against it. If I started cutting bits out then it wokd return to its non vertical state. I think I will heat up and put a set in the two big chassis/bulkhead bolts so it sits straight without any pressure...

    Vertical Bulkhead

Hi all I am prepping the bulkhead of my series 3 for repair, pillar/floor replacement etc. Question... Does the bulkhead fit vertical/90 degrees to the chassis as viewed from the side? I want to be able to check the position after removal. The chassis currently is level to the ground checked...
