Unless someone has a trick to get a better look at it without taking too many bits off?
Try a mirror or someone with a camera probe. Sorry I'm too far away.

Hi Mick, I think I have read previous posts that the alarm can be disabled with Nano.
Try the part number search here - https://www.lrworkshop.com/

JJ, Reciever is under head linning in front of the rear sunroof.
Hawkeye and Nanocom are 2 different pieces of kit. The TD5 is NOT OBD2 compliant, so "normal" code readers are no good.

As it mentioned "throttle position" I'm wondering if you need to check the TPS settings. Your 2000 model would, I believe, have 2 track where as a 2003 would be 3 track.

Fery, you can carefully use a screwdriver touched against the area and your ear and use it like a stetethscope (bet I splet that wrong) and listen for the noise.

If you don't have one, you could see if a friendly local garage could use their impact gun to loosen it then do it up enough to get you home. Leave the centre cap out for ease of access.
Where abouts in the UK are you? There may be someone near that could help.
