Transfer box advice, 1.2 or 1.4??

I’m not sure why it’s died as I haven’t had time to do an autopsy. The oil was very metallic looking though when I drained it:( It got me to Wales and back, though. Even though it sounded dreadful and vibrated in a most unnerving fashion between 50 and 65. It felt as though I was gently...

Transfer box advice, 1.2 or 1.4??

That’s correct. Well, in my case it is! The fact that I spent a small amount of money and a day of my time and effort pays absolutely no part whatsoever in my opinion of how much I liked my upgrade to 1.2:D! In my use, I can’t think of a single negative (apart from the fact it expired and I had...

    Clutch? Transfer Case??

You will have to undo the big nut in the middle of the flange and remove the flange from the box in order to remove the prop bolts from the flange. To undo the big nut, engage diff lock, Apply hand brake, chock wheels and eat spinach!

Did you brush it on, roller or spray. I’d never heard of Arc rite until you posted that link. I see it uses xylene thinners.....does this pose any problem? One last question - does it need thinning to be applied with a roller? I ask for myself but it may help the OP too.....

Transfer box advice, 1.2 or 1.4??

I went from 1.4 to 1.2 in my 90 (300tdi) and I loved it. I could easily pull away in 2nd, accelerate well and sit at 70 all day. I don’t tow or carry much weigh. I can report NO downsides from my experience. The tx box shat itself though so I’m now back with the 1.4. Ratios in town don’t seem...

Problem fitting replacement door tops to my 110 - Help!

I replaced the studs on my military door tops with stainless ones. The top of the stud is M8 and screws into the door top, up to a shoulder on the stud. There is a 10mm dia shank which sits in the tubes in the door, and the stud is threaded M10 to accept the nut to hold it all together. The mild...

Is this a part from my disco?

Surely it can’t go there.......it doesn’t appear to trap ANY water in that location!:D Id look for a similarly shaped rust hole. That’ll be where it’s from!:D Love that colour Disco!!

Wobble, but maybe not death wobble?

My mate did the same many years ago on a 2 yr old mk1 mondeo! He drove it around for weeks until I had a look at it. By which time the wheels were shot as well as the studs and the nuts. It drove like a sack of sh1t. Goodness knows how he managed to live with it like that!!! I once forgot To...
